does anybody else play hotseat mode ??

Im currently playing a 5 way all human match and am leading (tech, cities and army), however there appears to be a 4 way alliance against me, i need some help, useful hints about defending my borders and launcing counter strikes, i usually go for the strongest civ first and kill them off, should i do this or should i kill of my brothers littler civ and be4 i take his last city offer him to be my puppet ??

The players are all very average, as im the only one with the net they wont know some internet tactics, so im looking for a civ geek to step foprward and tutor me a little, im hitting hard times, and my freind just got the great wall and i have dragoonS OUTSIDE London (which is defended by riflemen + city wall) but thats not the point, they have crap weapons but r taking my colonbies overseas, need help,

cheers

El Presidente...it has been a bad year!

You have played "Junta"? if not...you should have!

Are you talking about the board game Junta .. Kitty ? I used to play it lots !!

Dog.

P.S. Hotseat beyond 2 or 3 player is too clumsy.. & you really have to watch your diplomatic settings & have some agreements in that area as to what flies & what does not. Also .. worst of all, you don't get to see the other side's moves.

Worse still, in hotseat mode, any advances received from the Great Library will NOT be announced because it occurs on the OTHER palyer's turn as they develop/receive the tech! So you have to constantly keep atching your science advisor and it gets a little annoying.

Also you can be sneak-attacked by an enemy and not be told of it because that also happens on their turn! SO as they are running around at war with you, you could still think you are ALLIED!!! This requires as well a mandatory foreign minister check every turn too.

Hotseat games are completely useless!

The more players that you have, the worse it is! other players may demand tribute from you and you must accept because the AI controls your diplomacy. the civilization that you want to smash flat may sign an alliance with you, and you will never know about it because it happend during someone elses turn! These games are all evil and should be avoided at all costs!

I know all of the answers, It's the questions that confuse me.

Whenever I play hotseat games (I have only one civ playing friend, and my sister plays)
we have an agreement: NO DEMANDING ANYTHING
It's as simple as that, also to make sure no such backstabing as that happens I always keep my attitude set to icy or enraged, or something else that low

If you want strategy all you have to do is make sure that you treat your human opponents slightly better than the AI, they can kill you in your sleep if you're not nice :satan:

When I played hotseat games with my friends we always had this houserule:
When two players negotiate, both parties have to agree on:
*making peace/cease fire/alliance
*exchanging technologies/maps
*asking to declare war on another player
No demanding tribute

Of course, if you want to declare war or cancel the alliance, the other player can't keep you from doing it.

Negotiating with someone and not telling him about it is considered cheating.

You don't have to use the diplomatic menu at all, as you can just change everything you want (maps, technologies, treaties) in the cheat mode.

I hadn't played hotseat for some time. Yesterday I played with my uncle...

Man I just remembered how much this thing sucks! It's awfull! In fact we just played 10 turns...
