THis is weird and I am really needing some help here from you super bright techies. I tried to install civ4 on my desktop (which is about two plus years old) and of course it didn't work, I tried a patch or two and even deleted civ3 just in case there were some compatability issues. Big mistake! I now cannot reinstall civ3. It appears to reinstall but the game starts up with no text next to the icons and when I take a guess and select a few buttons I get a file buffer error (unable to allocate draw-buffer terminating program). The sad thing is that as tired of civ3 as I have become at least it works (or always had) while civ4 is a nightmare and even on the one pc I can get it to work on I am not a big fan of the oversized soldiers, tanks, etc. All I want to do is return civ4 (till they fix it so you can run it on a regular PC and not asuper gaming device) and reinstall civ3. I can't 'rollback' my system or at least don't know how to do so, I don't take back-ups before installing a simple pc game. Any ideas as to how to install civ 3 and get everything back to normal?

Well I would start by removing it completely. No registry or nay folders left.
Install and then patch it and see how it goes. I have both running fine.
