Please help me evaluate my system

Like so many others I experience terrible lags when playing Civ V. I know I'm not the only one, and would really like to try and solve it. The problem is, I feel I have a pretty good system - maybe a little small RAM-wise, but...

In my current game, round 342 - 80 BC, on a large map I can't even load the game anymore. Before that I experience slowdowns of the system so bad that I rarely loaded a game - when I start up Civ V and loaded a save game it could take up to 10 minuttes before I was ready to go.

Memory: 4096MB RAM, DDR3 1333 hmz

Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series, Dedicated Memory: 1016 MB
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

There's nothing wrong with your system; Civ V is a pig (performance-wise).

Playing smaller maps, but that is probably not the answer you wanted to hear

No that's not the answer I wanted to hear especially since I rate it pretty good myself

What I would really like is some advice - should/could I boost my system somewhere.

Please - anyone...
