Please help me with PTW

I am not sure where to post this thread, so I apologize if you see it somewhere else. I am just looking for someone who can help me out.

This is the scoop:

I purchased PTW tonight. I installed it. I clicked onto the shortcut on the desktop, and this is what I got:

LOAD ERROR

FILE NOT FOUND

"Sounds\LoveTheKing.wav"

The game will now exit.

I am not sure what to do. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, but that did not work. I could use some insight please.

Do you have Civilization III installed?

I think the problem will go away if you reinstall Civilization III (not PTW) and patch it to 1.29f.

I have civ III installed and the latest patch.

So, I should uninstall everything and start fresh?

yeah, that should do it. The LoveTheKing.wav file is from the original Civ3 installation.

I was able to finally play PTW. I am guessing that PTW was released with the latest patch for civ III vs. 1.29.

I tried to reinstall the patch for civ III. It would not take it. I know it is not needed for PTW, but just curious about playing just civ III.

No, PTW is not a stand alone. You need to have already had Civ III.

Hi, folks!
I will abuse this threat now for another problem I have with PTW, although I haven't bought it yet...

I was a moron (not the first time in my life! ) and decided to treat myself by buying Civ III in my mother-language (german). The result: the 'support' :rocket: stopped after patch 1.21 and nothing was ever heard from Infogrames anymore...
I won't buy PTW in German unless I would see an appropriate patch for the German version somewhere (I don't think so!) and figured that it would be best, buying the english original!
My question: Does anybody know, if the German Civ III and the english PTW are ok with each other or can I forget about this great plan???
I assume that very likely nobody else has THIS specific problem but maybe you know more than I do...
