To do that they would need to make it 64 bit and make combat go more quickly like we had in Civ 4. The 64 bit question hasn't been answered yet but it looks like they are keeping Civ 5's slow combat style so that os bad news for MP players.
I'm unclear if turntimes have anything to do with 64 or 32bit. Memory cap is the biggest gain for the end user. There's another thread discussing that.
Beyond Earth has a considerable though not huge increase in turn processing over Civ 5 although those maps tend to be filled with even more stuff, so there's probably some optimization that could also be "ported" to Civ 6.
Because of complexity of modern games, the biggest factor in turn times nowadays is the use of single versus multiple cores. Doesn't Civ V use parallel processing/multiple cores? I haven't played a full game of Civ since Civ IV and the only reason I quit that game was for this very reason (I grew too fond of highly modded games that took forever on turns with single core processing).
64 bit processing can also plays a factor I imagine. I will probably not be getting Civ 6 if it is not capable of making use of modern technology; especially multiple cores.
