I have played and I have loved. Now I must have more. I love earth-based scenarios of any kind. 3000 BC or 2000 AD and anything in between. I ask the community, please make earth based scenarios for this glorious mod. Anything is acceptable I'm just looking for variety or ideas. Thank you for the hard work on the mod and thank you to anyone in advance who will partake in this endeavor. Upload anything, I don't care if it sucks !!

Thanks for the feedback. In the most recent build there are 4 scenarios included, just select the scenario option when you start up, and pick one of the 4 listed at the top that have (legends) in the title. One of them is a premade earth map by Lean, and Lean intends on releasing a medieval 1000AD scenario as well, but will probably take him a bit to finish. Also there is an industrial scenario, entitled World War Wolf, originally designed for the Wolfshanze mod which is also included in the 0.9.6 build. Finally there are 2 Earth maps that are clean, so they will generate new random games on the map if selected. If anyone makes new scenarios for the mod, I will include them in future releases.

Like phungus said, I'm currently working on AD 1000 for LoR. Right now, all of Europe is finished, and I'm woring on India and China, then the Americas, andthe placing will be done. Then, with a little more research, I'll put all correct civs at war, and then it should be ready for a 1.0 release. After that, I'm relying on the people in this forum to make the changes that I know will be needed. Like phungus said, it'll take time, but I'm working on it.

@Lean

Do you already have some screenshots (from Europe)? Any idea to implement the crusades? Maybe an event?

I'm actually making a generic Giant Earth map for Legends of Revolution. My previous idea for an Earth 2000 AD map is too elaborate, & there's a mod in development for 'Earth 2009 AD' (far more elaborate & ambitious than mine).

This is what I have so far:

- Size: 180 x 112 tiles

- Starting era: 4000 BC (Ancient)

- Civs: 37, the same amount as LoR has. The leader selection was done to achieve a general level of historic accuracy, by choosing the leaders that I considered as the best options to represent their civs as a whole. They're in historically accurate locations (used the modern location when needed), except for the Sumerians (they're on the Hebrew starting location, Jerusalem).

- General appearance: I decided to use a slightly altered Mollowide projection for this map. Europe came a bit larger than what it should be (though still too small for non-warmongering games). Some of the problems I've faced with the map include a too small P Ocean, that NE Siberia had to be tremendously stretch in order to make a realistic Bering Strait, & I need to improve the shapes of Africa & S America.

- Resources: I plan to make a version with the more ancient resource locations, & another one with the modern version (this one will have more resources overall).

- Other important details: due to the various crowded zones, I'm considering to make tiny moddings to the map. My biggest concern is how to fit cities in-game, so I decided to change the minimum city distance to 1 tile.

This is what I have so far:

Did you make the terrain in the maps yourself, Dragonxander? A couple places look incomplete (Amazon for example), besides that they look fantastic.
Indeed, I've been making it during the last days. This map is clearly under the making, & it still needs some corrections in the base terrain. When I have it complete, I'll post it in the LoR forum & in the Pre-made maps forum. Maybe you'll be even more impressed if you manage to compare that Earth map I'm making with some real Earth maps.

Maybe I'll make a thread dedicated to this map, in the subforums I mentioned.

Well its one of the better earth maps ive seen so far. Obviously it looks like youve made some place larger than they should be in real life. But why does Russia look so disproportianately large. I know its over twice the size of the US but there it looks like its 4x the size. Is it just me, or is this also intentional?

Helluva map Dragonxander! Now I'm going to have to get adjusted to it, when it's completed, to make my senarios on that one! Sure, add more work to my plate, why don't ya!
I don't quite understand your post, could you please explain it?

Consider the frontiers of China, Mongolia, the Central Asia countries & East Europe. Those may be mistaken with Russia, making it too large in some parts. Even so, it's not THAT big of a deal, since much of Russia's land would have little use until the very late game. And don't forget that Alaska represents a big portion of the USA lands.

If I were to assign a pratical use for an oversized Russia, it would be for Mongol expansions & to release some of the crowding pressure in Europe. Check the Europe screenshot to see the starting locations, & you'll know what I mean.

BTW, did you read the info regarding general appearance of the map, in the post containing the screenshots?

Sorry. I meant, you're map is great! So great, in fact, that I plan on switching over to it instead of continuing to use the Rhye's Enlarged Europe one. However, I'm going to have to get used to it, once it's released, which'll take up a lot of time in my already busy schedule.

Maybe I can help you out with the scenario. One thing that'll make it more time-consuming is the fact that my map is bigger overall, making it possible to place more stuff in accurate ways; yet it has the convenient problem of requiring more terrain editing (resources & improvements).

Hey! That would be great if you'd help! I'll PM you after I'm done posting. Regarding the rest of your post, you're correct, it will be more time consuming because the map is bigger, but hey, the bigger the map, the better the senario!

Nope, I must have skipped that. What I was thinking was pretty much what you explained in that paragraph.:crazyeye: Except to me it looked like asia got a mercator style projection and N America got a different one.

I would like to get into Scenario building for myself, and I want to use the LoR mod... how do i start?
First, you need to download Legends of Revolution. I also advice you to download map scripts that allow to use custom sized maps, or maybe an external scenario making tool (chech the Civ iV utility programs subforum). Afterwards, it's up to you to get creative & researchy.

The more ammateur alternative (the one I'm using for the most part) is using the World Builder with none or some aids I mentioned before (i.e. the map scripts).
