Please read: A reminder.

Well, I asked to be sure what are the intentions...
Now, I know that GOTM is not for me :(

Salute :salute: for all GOTM players - I am really impressed that such good scores are possible within first attempt.

I have a lot to learn... maybe some day... :)

Why not?
It doesn't matter if you win or lose, or if your result could've been better if you hadn't misclicked a couple of times. Just have fun and play the game...

:D
Did you play with alarm clock as a young child?
There are two types of children:
one type look at the clock and listen to the alarm, songs and they love it
others are completely uninterested with the outside part of the clock, the fun for them is to disassembly it an assembly again

It looks like I come from the second part :)

It is nothing fun in playing the game from the beginning to the end. The fun is to "disassembly" the game: try all possible combination and finally reach to the very best of them :)

Is here (in civfan) a place for people who like "disassembling"? Or there are marked as "cheaters" and ignored?

I think it is safe to say most people here like disassembling, but it becomes cheating when you do it in a competition. You do the investigating of the game mechanics outside of the competition and use the knowledge you gained within it. :)

I guess that you're not talking about knowledge of the game, but of knowledge of that particular map. Personally I like knowing the game and be surprised by the map and the situations. The map designers take pride in setting things up in a certain way to see how people deal with it when it comes in a natural sequence. To me much of the fun is reduced if I would know al these things on forehand.

Yes, you are right - I am not talking about game mechanics :)

For me each map is a unique riddle, and the fun is not to solve the riddle but to find the prfect solution ;) I agree that such approach is not common :)

Well, why couldn't you have both?
Play the game according to the GOTM rules once and send in your results, for the amusement of competition. Then go back and replay the map as much as you like, for the amusement of perfection. :)

This may belong here. I hope so.

But is it legal to ask other civfanatics game mechanics questions while playing a COTM? I'm not looking for advice, I just want to know if it is possible for the AI to do "a certain thing I'm not sure about."

Any response would be appreciated. :)

Try PMing Ainwood or AlanH, maybe they know if it's possible for the AI to do whatever it is that yopu want to know. They can at least give you a definite answer if it's allowed to ask your Q to the other players...
