I just bought BNW. First thing I did? Set up a game with all BNW civs, plus one random civ. When I was choosing who to play with, I chose Poland. Why? Because Poland is good at everything. Culture, diplomacy, domination and science. I started it, not knowing what to do yet.

After exploring and settling my first two cities(Warsaw and Krakow). I was on one continent with Shaka, Pedro and Enrico. Enrico started by almost immediately consuming Kyzyl. Pedro became my friend, and I barely spoke to Shaka. On an island to the west of my continent I found Assyria. Shaka took Venice, peace, and then took Kyzyl and Cape Town(Enrico had another MoV), annihilating Venice. Founded the World Congress, all the usual stuff. Random civ was Greece.

As I had expected, The Zulu's attacked Brazil. Wroclaw(a southern city near Pedro, which had ''concerned his officials'' became my fortress. Shaka would get rid of Pedro, and then come after me. I had little to no army, but I send my 3 Winged Hussar's and my 2 Musketmen to Wroclaw, since that would be the first city he would attack. He took Salvador, kept attacking Rio de Janeiro(but he kept failing). To show how long it took Shaka:

Most civ's got their ideology
The world industrialized
I reached Infantry
The first planes were made
I tried to take over Mycenae(Alex was being an A******), but failed
I settled Gdansk
I went from Galleases to Frigates and Privateers, to Battleships and Destroyers
I went from Cannon's, to Artillery, to Rocket Artillery

Yeah, Shaka really took long. Eventually he got Rio, and Brazil pretty much gave up. They tried to settle Fortaleza, but it immediately got razed. Sao Paulo and Brasilia were also razed. It was time to attack. I attacked Shaka, swiftly taking Rio de Janeiro, thereby liberating Brazil. Why did I do that? Because I went for a Diplo victory, with my Polish Freedom. After taking over and liberating Salvador, I took over Cape Town, and accidentally liberated(thinking I would liberate the CS) Venice. Not that I wouldn't liberate Venice. My units were weak, and Shaka asked for peace. Nope. After taking over Ondini(creating Polish Ondini), I healed my units, ignoring Shaka's cry's for peace.

When I had healed them, the bankrupt, emberrased and embargoed Shaka was helpless. Venice fell, and I accepted peace(taking Kwadukuza in the progress). That's when the wars proved to be worth it. I would not have enough delegates with just the City-State allies and the host things. But Venice and Brazil were both grateful and afraid, so they voted for me. I won.

Poland is one of the most versatile civ.'s. They can do anything
