archipelago since I like having to be a naval power.

I actually don't mind continents because I usually only start with a few civilizations that only have good units in teh later ages like America and Germany so I can crush them easily and then move onto another continent and assert my AUTHOROTAAH

I prefer to play the English and prefer Archapeligo.. Often I run nine or ten random 60% water Archapeligo's on 240 X 240.. Then "perfect' the maps with a tweak here, an isthmus there.. a canal or two.. throw in a couple of two or three square islands.. a few mountain islands for strategic use and generally keep it at 16 to 20 civs.. Then try to not use the maps for three or four weeks and go from their.. I love to dominate the seas..

I enjoy the other land forms, and will play on anything, but defenitly love great naval battles and control of the seas..

I like Continetnts but the problem is that there aren't many islands, which mean less naval activity and since i like naval warfare i say that Archipelago is my preference.

You archipelago guys know where its at!

I played archipelago multiplayer a few times. The first time was totally awesome since i got the lighthouse and went about securing iron resources on the many uninhabited islands to trade to giant, ironless rome. That was a fun game (of course a tiny island home of 3 civs erupted into war and eventually we took it over and he got iron from that).

All Pangaea does is overwhelm me by presenting too many civs to trade with. Archipelago makes me not trade early on, unless I'm on a continent.

So, Pangaea, because PAWs are cool. :D :crazyeye:

Pangea - no time consuming island hopping, just start at one end of the continent and work your way through :D . use captured workers to lay RR as you go...

continents... offers the best balance, room to expand, room to fight, and them room to sit back and bask in your glory, without having to build a navy to wipe out enemies.
Pangaea can get claustrophobic very quickly, and I'm often wary of going to war because of the dogpile opportunities it affords the AI.
Though you should see the 'pangaea' I got the other day....

Neil.

Not many "random" players...Having said that it's been a while since I chose random. I go roughly 50/50 between pang. and arch., largely depending on what civ and/or what sort of game I want.

At the moment I have been beating teh living Daylights out of every one I meet on Pangea with the Japanese because What can I say samurai armies rock.

Continent because it provides a bit of both worlds of pangea and archipelago. you have to employ both land and naval forces for conquest victory.

Continents. I like having the two different groups of civs.

I prefer pangea myself, so SunTzu's and HD is more useful. I rarely get the Pyramids any more, so that doesn't really matter.

I'll play continents, too. Archipelagos rarely.

That is interesting
