Hmmm Déjà Vu ;) Anyway:

So far my first Civ with each version has always been Romans.

I like that tradition, so: alea jacta est!

Caesar is going for veni vidi vici again this time. :goodjob:

I think I will likely go random... I will probably do that for a while until I get the feel of the game.

But who knows... I may end up having my own tase preference soon:P

ENGLAND!!!

For Queen and Country.

I will have fun thrashing other civs with my Red Coats

We're playing for England... En-Ger-Land!

India - so I can build city improvements faster and then crush everyone else:D

Cheers, Ice:cool:

For the first time the Spanish, in my case... just for tradition, I started my first civ2 game with them, and my first civ3 game as well.
Then I'll try the Germans, I always like them... and in the third game why not try the Malinese?

Same sort of thing with me, but with Rome.

I will try as Ghandis India. I have planned out my civics and religion. It will be a peaceful country, governed by the Pacifist Buddhist Monarchs of the Ghandi line. The governemnt will distributed welath among its citizens fairly and the King will selct regional representitives. The ideal: To make a peaceful nations with which governing is done by politicains and the people need not care.

The second, however, will be a raged filled one. Napoleons France will conquer the world! Napoleon will extend his hold with his Gendarmes (the secret police) and his powerful French army. Napoleon will control the economy and legislature and sponser Islamic Extremeist to due his bidding: and to slow the spread of Heathen faiths.

Why is there never Canada, we are apart of history too.

You don't really have a track record of subjugating others. Most of the Civs included in the game have a record of being predatory states and are famous for attempting to export their world view by force if necessary. Interestingly enough, many of the civs included have a peace-loving, harmless northern neighbor which never merits consideration. Consider, for instance, Denmark and Germany. It would be tough to distinguish between these two today using any measure of what makes a country 'civilized' if we are speaking of peaceful accomplishments such as science, art, literature, music, and culture. However, the Germans hands down beat out the Danes in terms of number of people slaughtered and subjugated in their history. (The Danes' distinctly uncivilized ancestors, the Vikings, however, who were famous for their ability to gruesomely exterminate others, did manage to make it into the game in an expansion). Likewise with England and her relatively less destructive northern neighbor Scotland. Canada is America's Denmark.

If you want to make it into the game, then encourage your govt. to be more militarily adventurous. Start small. Annex Greenland, or Michigan's upper peninsula. Drop some large bombs. Make a big noise. As the inclusion of the Vikings in expansion games shows, violence is much more important than other cultural achievements. If you guys really bear down and put your minds to it, and start slaughtering today, maybe by the time Civ V comes out you'll be in!:)

Rome, doesn't matter what else is involved. I've played Civ I, II, III, CTP 1, and all relevant expansions. I always play Rome first. It's a tradition now. :D If Rome had been available in Colonization, Master of Magic, and SMAC, I'd be 100%. :D

As a Chinese myself, I'd have to go with China. And I'd play with Qin Shi Huang (unless they really did cut him, which would completely ruin my impression of Civ4). Finally, I'd be able to play China and not use Mao. I've always felt he's a terrible representation of China's heritage, and he isn't exactly a loved historical figure in most places.

No worries friend. Qin Shi Huang is still in the game according to the recent changes over at Civ4.com. Check it out again sometime.

I believe this time around I will likely play my first game as the Americans now that I have seen the American leaders (I think I'll play as FDR rather than Washington). Originally I was going to play as Qin Shi Huang because I really like Chinese history as well. Although I wish he was portrayed, perhaps, a little less cartoony in Civ 4. Perhaps if he were portrayed moreso like in the movie Hero or a little closer resemblance to how Tokugawa is presented.

I voted random because I couldn't decide. But I like to get my UU early in the game, so may the Persians. I always had great success with them in Civ3. It's interesting that America scored so high in the pole since it seems so many people would like to remove them from the game altogether.
