The Mapuche are the intersection of three things that appeal to me: cultural play (particularly Tourism from improvements), flipping cities (hearkening back from the days of yore, Civ IV), and tile pillaging raids.
Korea, to see its potential for multiplayer. I'd like to try Zulu or Mongolia, but I'm sure they'll be banned in most MP games just like Scythia is now.
Probably the Cree, as an interesting new civ that won't give me a distorted view of any of the expansion mechanics. I haven't decided yet, though, whether that will be in single player, or if I'll go straight into trying the new civs/strategies against each other in hotseat.
Of the new civs, I think the Cree's bonuses fit my playstyle the best, so I may stick with them as a means to learn the xpac mechanics. Otherwise, I may just start a game with Egypt for the same reasoning.
The Cree, for sure. I like that they're an early game economy/expansion civ for a quick start, but aren't as focused for the mid/late game, allowing you to later decide which victory condition to pursue off your early progress. They all look pretty viable except maybe Religious. That said I'm a bit bummed we didn't get a turtle/commerce civ. Would loved to have seen the Swiss or something similar.
I was a bit let down by the Scots. Bannockburn feels incredibly situational and while a bit nitpicky I'd much rather have seen the distillery rather than golf course.
Before it gets banned in Canada or whatever I must play as the Cree. And then play Korea and Netherlands in the following order. Korea given my username, Netherlands because Polders look fun. For my fourth game I'm not sure, I could try Mongolia or Zulu but I want to try out the new Royal Navy Dockyard as England.
Scotland, I think. I like the idea of hogging Great Engineers/Scientists. Bannockburn seems borderline irrelevant, but I guess it balances out since Scottish Enlightenment seems so good.
I was going to go with the Cree, but then every streamer and their mother decided to play with them first and I got slightly burnt out on them. I was also disappointed that they didn't start with a UU scout instead of a generic Warrior.
Probably Mapuche. But that could change depending on achievements - if the one for the Mapuche is weird or complicated, I may put it off until I'm more familiar with the new mechanics.
