Cherry picking from a year's worth of archived segments comes the first composite episode of PolyCast, an official podcast of Apolyton Civilization Site (ACS). Entitled "Not Just a Lame Clip Show", it is now netcasting. Regular co-hosts Daniel "DanQ" Quick, Makahlua, Imran Siddiqui and Annalee "Cartimandua" Barney are joined by ten guest co-hosts overall across eleven topics.

The summary of topics is as follows:

- 02m41s | Miscellaneous
On what is generally different in playing Civilization IV against other humans versus the Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- 04m58s | Research Lab
Adjusting Civ cities' tax rate city-by-city.
- 06m25s | Forum Talk
Workers won't stop building forts in Civ IV.
- 09m51s | Senate
The timing of promotions not always being immediate, and on Guided Missiles being underpowered.
- 18m47s | Forum Talk
How much do you write down on your Civ games, lack of diverse gameplay in Civ IV: Colonization, on Civ IV: Beyond the Sword Quests in general, and is it ever worth a rush expansion to complete a Quest.
- 37m00s | Senate
On the combination of the Woodsman III and Medic promotions.
- 41m47s | Miscellaneous
What is memorable from 2008 in the Civilization world.

- Intro/Outro | Miscellaneous
The premise of this composite episode, and closing on a tune or two.

A nominee in the "Best Produced" and "Gaming" categories of the 2008 Podcast Awards, PC's second annual Christmas special is to be released on Christmas Eve.

Enjoy. :cooool:

I enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it so much that I listened to the previous episode, also. One reason was that I tried the dial-up approach, which seemed to be more compatible with my Rhapsody player for reasons unknown. The other reason I enjoyed it was because it was a lot of fun. It was fun because your crew was having fun creating it.

I didn't enjoy the episodes enough to consider sponsoring the participants trip to Hunt Valley, but enough to contemplate buying lunch or dinner there:coffee:

Anyway, it's nice to hear other players admit to doing things in civ for reasons other than a mathematical proof.

Thank you for the kind feedback. While I naturally like all of it :D, the last sentence in particular is striking: that is an if not the underlying goal of the show. It's wonderful to hear from new listeners, or occasional/regular listeners writing (or calling) in for the first time, with their comments on our efforts.

Was this the first episode of PolyCast you had listened to (or listened to in a while as the case may be)?

Hmm, that is odd. Does the 'standard' (64kbps) version not play properly, at all in the program or..? Any particular error messages result?

A meal would be most welcome.

(For those wondering, this refers to content in Episode 58.)

Anyway, it's nice to hear other players admit to doing things in civ for reasons other than a mathematical proof.

I 've tried to listen about five different times. I heard part of one once before, I'm pretty sure I recognized your voice. I guess it was a year ago or more.

No error messages, pretty much nothing happened. It didn't even load the name polycast. I have RoadRunner service and usually don't have trouble downloading video feeds. Oh well.

The dial-up approach was easy enough, I just never tried it before.

Do you experience the same difficulty when trying to listen with e.g. Windows Media Player or Winamp? Are you able to listen to the streaming version within your Web browser and/or through an external player?

I updated both the Widows Media player and The Rhapsody, they both play your streaming feed now.:goodjob:
