Polynasian Civ?

No... think about the civs that you are adding.... And ask yourself.. How many people would play as these civs? Would you rather be German or Jewish. If you are the Jewish civ you are just asking for another holocaust. <<< except they will be killing you. I have nothing against jewish people... but they shouldnt be a civ.

This is the stupidest argument I've ever heard. Does anyone get upset wher the English take over the Zulus in Civ? Let's be serious.; If Germany attacked Israel, big whoop, it's a VIDEO GAME.

People here may not have a problem with it, but I bet some hypersensitive people will, and video games don't need anymore negative attention.

The heat that video games are taking is mainly aimed at first person shooters and other games that show explicit and graphic violence. Civ has not and will be enter into these areas. It wants to maintain its everyone ratings.

on the topic, i think a polynesian civ would be good as its the only area of world not represented by the game. the leader could be Hone Heke the leader of the Maori, and the uniqie unit

While I think it would be fun to play as a highly seafaring civ as the Polynesians, and while I think the Polynesians have had great, underestimated affects on the world, when playing on a real-world map it would be difficult to become powerful. I mean, much of your empire would be islands, which often yield much commerce but relatively little food and shield. That is, unless you started in SE mainland Asia or in Indonesia.

Where should the Polynesian starting location be?

I don't know if that's half as bad as starting in a crowded Europe or Middle East.

Actually, when I start on a 31 civ world map, I prefer England BECAUSE of the island start. My first mission is ALWAYS to secure Iceland, then a colony on Greenlnd, then over to the Carribean. When I'm not in the over-crowded continents of Europe, Africa and Aisia, I can dominate he world. ANd it's easier to win, as I can have more citys, and my core Brittish citys can produce offence and ships without hardly any defence!

Back to the topic, I think that a Poloneisian civ would be cool. And sayin that they didn't accomplish much would be insaulting to the heads of Easter Island, to name just one ccomplishment.
