Pop up help

I keep getting these annoying pop-ups. One of them completly freezes my computer which can suck if I'm half way through posting of CFC. I've looked up some sites to get downloads but some you have to pay for and others are innefective.

Anyone got any advice? (apart from 'don't visit porn sites') coz I'm pretty computer illiterate.

Try Google Toolbar, or Yahoo Toolbar. Both have pup-up blockers as well.

Have you installed SpyBot Search & Destroy? How about AdAware 6.0? If you haven't, go to www.safer-networking.org for SpyBot, and www.lavasoftusa.com for AdAware. While you're at it, install Spyware Blaster as well. Don't forget to update these last three.

Also if you use Spybot remember to use the immunise function on the side panel since this helps to block spyware from returning.

Another free popup blocker is Popup blocker.

Going to www.download.com and searching for popup blockers should return a list of programs with descriptions as to whether there is a free version.

www.maxthon.com - it is an add-on to I.E. that allows you to stop pop-ups. It also has tabbed browsing and other goodies.
