Post Affinity music - If Affinities had unique themes, what would they sound like?

While I'm pretty confident that it's not going to happen, I think it would be incredible if different music tracks played based on one's Affinity.

So what music do you think of with the different Affinities and Hybrids?

What would be your opinion of unique tracks for them?

Purity
________

Peace - Crateria Surface from Super Metroid.

It has a sort of proud, heroic theme to it that I think fits well.
_________

War - Terran 4 from Starcraft Brood War.

Not as good as the amazing BE war theme Destroyer, but I love the build-up and it fits well at its high points.

Perhaps it's not active enough, though.

Harmony
_________

Peace - Upper Brinstar from Super Metroid.

A lively song with a touch of melancholy, which I think fits Harmony well.
_________

War - Flaaghra Battle from Metroid Prime.

The general forboding and organic sound of it works well, but the climax that peaks at 3:00 makes it perfect. Gives a sense of plans falling apart, and panic setting in.

Purity / Supremacy (Mastery?)

Peace - Sanctuary Fortress from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

Possibly too melancholy for the slot, but they remind me of it's source. They also seem like the types to build up their automated cities and wall themselves in from the world. With the Supremacy influence and their polished aesthetic, they don't strike me as big time expanders or terraformers.

War - Quadraxis Boss Theme from Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

The layers on this song fit an organized robotic advance well, with vocal chanting(?) giving it a human element.

Supremacy

War - Hive Mecha / Incinerator Drone Boss Theme from Metroid Prime.

It's a similar song to the Mastery war, but it somehow feels less human. It has a sort of doomsday feel to it that fits Supremacy well.

I can't think of a Supremacy peace song I'm really happy with, or any for the other affinities for that matter.

Ooh, this looks like a fun thread. Also, a Metroid fan I see... me too!

This is one of my favorites and always makes me think of Purity, with battlesuits lined up and their banners held high and waving.
Purity (War): Protectors of the Earth

Supremacy (Peace): XCOM HQ Act 1

Supremacy (War): XCOM Combat 5

Also, for some reason, Supremacy/Purity really reminds me of the Tower/Academy towns of Heroes of Might and Magic, haha. If they were fantasy instead of sci-fi they would be the master artisans and wizards who have their summons and creations to serve them. HMM3 Tower Theme

I'm not familiar with them: have anything specific in mind?

Or maybe something from RAM. Heavy on the digital energy and pushing boundaries.

At least that's is how I imagine Supremacy. Not so much cold, hard and mechanical, but actually vibrant and full of starry-eyed optimism about the future and the possibilities of human integration into artificial worlds and immortality through AI/neural interface.

Barathor's suggestions are also good.

For me, it'd be like:

Harmony - similar music to Gaians in SMAC: background nature music also similar to the ambient tunes in the current CivBE soundtrack.

Purity - see track 6 "destroyer" in current civbe soundtrack. There's a degree of determination in purity and this track captures it nicely.

Supremacy - I keep thinking of a mix between dubstep, techno but rolled into background music.

For hybrid, it'd be a mixture of the themes I already mentioned above.

Am I alone thinking that Supremacy is more like medieval classical, Purity is classical and Harmony is a little mix of techno and classical? :P

Protectors of Earth is an amazing fit for Purity, I agree.

I've heard the Xcom HQ 1 theme, but I forgot how good it was.

It's a good combination of sounding artificial, hopeful, and a bit strange for Supremacy.

Reminds me of quitting Long War, coincidentally. Great mod, but I don't like how it chooses to make the game harder.

Xcom 5 Combat works well for Supremacy, more lively than the track I posted.

Hmm3 Tower Theme sounds like it would fit that fantasy version of them, but it doesn't feel...I dunno. Pristine? Sterile? Mechanical? enough for them.

The first almost sounds too relaxed for Supremacy, though I could see them enjoying that style.
______________

The second works decently but it doesn't seem focused enough for me - I prefer Barathor's selection there.

The third has a drive to it that fits well and helps counterbalance the emotional aspects of it - I like it.

Supremacy definitely has an enthusiasm for neural interfaces and the like, but I tend to imagine them as being very focused on maximizing efficiency and bringing that future about.

In that version they would seem somewhat cold and fanatical to those who disagree with them, which fits their aesthetic.

I considered just saying that the Destroyer track is the pre-Affinity war theme and the Purity war theme.

Though the song fits Purity well and it would be great thematically, Destroyer just seems too awesome a theme to be constrained to a single Affinity.

Easily my favorite in Beyond Earth.

Emperor: Battle For Dune comes to mind since the factions in that game have their own soundtracks. Halo too, since the affinities seem to draw some artistic inspiration from it.

Purity would fit the Atreides soundtrack since they seem to be sort of regal and honorable. Supremacy would be Ordos with the techno feel and mysterious nature (or many harmony-supremacy hybrid more fittingly), and I'm reminded of Halo's Covenant with Harmony so...

IMO, if CivBERT music is better than their gameplay by few order of magnitude or composed by someone who, in stark contrast with the dev or Firaxis, know exactly what they're doing then it would be one of few good thing from the game.

Anyway, This is the time mute button and windowed mode are invented, so no one are not obliged to listen bad or, eventually repetitive music as long as they found the better one. I might replace some in-game music with anything suggested here if I will touch Rising Tide at all.
