PowerBar with Steam version?

I loved PowerBar when I used to play this years ago. I'd love to try it again, but I can't seem to get it to work with the Steam version of the game. I suspect because it's the complete version, and I always used it with the vanilla version.

I've tried a non-Steam installation, but I can't even get the game to start up in Windows 10.

Does anyone have any success getting PowerBar to work with the Steam version? The readme included says: "Civilization III, Play the World, and Conquests are all installed when you
install Civilization III: Complete Edition, however, clicking "Civilization III:
Complete Edition" from the Start Menu will launch the Conquests executable. In general, we
recommend launching the product using this method. However, if you wish to play
Civilization III Classic or Play the World, you must navigate to those folders directly and
launch the appropriate executable."

but I can't find the "appropriate executable" for Classic anywhere. Would anyone have any ideas on how to get it to work?

You can't find the Vanilla and PTW executables because they are not included in Steam's Civ3'Complete' install-package (or indeed any current DL-versions of the game, AFAIK).

See this thread for (a lot) more information. In Post #1 of that thread, there is a link to the German PCGames-magazine website, where you can DL a legitimate, Firaxis-issued NoCD vanilla v1.29 executable.

However, for a NoCD PTW 1.27 executable, you will need to look... erm... elsewhere...
