That's not the question now, is it ?
Some people around here at least think it needs to be in, so the question is, what will be the first modification made ? It WILL be made, don't doubt it. Whether it's supposed to be made, that's entirely up to you.

The first mod I'll be looking for and installing will be Hammers -> Shields, because I'm guessing it'll be out early, and there's not much anyone can do to screw it up. I'll also be looking out for mods changing that ridiculous unit size. If the ugly interface can be changed to something more bearable, then I'll get one of those too. Hopefully most of the games shortcomings can be fixed through modding.

But answering the question - Hammers to Shields is most likely, it should be amazingly easy.

I thiknn atheism mod would be one of the first, if not the first.

I would like for Atheism to be the first mod, but realistically a catch all option such as "other..." is so broad that it is bound to be the most likely

A better option would be to make a civic option where no religon is allowed, because adding Atheism as a religon is just stupid.

I value terrain mod over anything else. The rest i can tolerate or simply ignore/

I agree. From the early shots, which admittedly look like they are zoomed in, the unit size is way to big. Would definately want to change that.

My first mod would be to change unit sizes, IF they remained at the size we've seen, which I suspect will not be the case.

My second? Giving different religions societal bonuses. I know Firaxis isn't willing to do this because of the flak they'd probably receive, but as the religions are unlocked by different technologies, they should also grant different bonuses.

What about a civics option that's the opposite of theocracy, but not freedom of religion? Think of it as three lines branching from the ultimate central point (or perhaps freedom of religion is centrist). Essentially that civics option could be (for lack of better phrase) "Anti-Religion". Not Secularist, but actually trying to supress religion.

I can't see any benefit in terms of the Civilization game as it currently stands, maybe it'll cause unrest in other civs because people will be saying "Look, oppression of religionXYZ!! Help our fellow religionXYZists! You won't? Curse you and your keyboard!"

It wouldn't surprise me if someone changes one of the leaders of a civilization.

I'd represent that by having the cities still having whatever religion was there before once Communism as an economic system is implemented, but if in tandem with lets say Police State, it completely locks the Religious Civics choices to you.

Communism is just an economic system, nothing says that a comminist state HAS to have limited religion etc. And the good thing is that in Civ4 you can replicate that. You can have a Communist nation with Free speech, Free trade, any religion you want, etc

Well we've seen some Civ 3 style leaderheads that might work for Civ 4, though in one of the other threads it was noted that things in poser might not work.

Maybe that takes all the fun out of this thread I don't know, but if it is possible to use the original Firaxian Civ 3 leaderheads in Civ 4, then it will make it easier to get new civs in there. Don't know if its going to be easy to 'port' over from 3 to 4.
