okay, regarding the subject of refugees, let's say that we get a bunch of refugees from another team, and more of them come over than we have active players; they could put their leader in power. For this reason I say we adopt one of the following rules:

a) "once refugees have joined our team, for any refugee to be elected to office that refugee must have at least 2/5" [we can change the number] "of the votes from the original members of team M.I.A. If the candidate who would otherwise have the majority does not quailfy because of this rule, the candidate of the original team M.I.A. who has the most votes shall be declared the winner and shall have all the powers and duties that the candidate would have had if he had won the election with a majority"

b)"no elected office may be held by a refugee"

we could also add in a law for 'naturalization' where someone can be counted as an original member for:
a)all purposes
b)running purposes only (i.e. doesn't need 2/5 of original votes)
c)voting purposes only

thoughts?

Just say that an elected official needs a majority of votes from the origional MIAers as well as a majority overall.

I am against having refugies not alowed to hold an elected office and denying them to join the team after their home team has been dismolished.

I think that they can hold a position ... but require a sponsor of one or maybe two originals ... then the vote as suggested majority of originals

the majority vote from original MIAers isn't neccessary just a 1/5 maybe of the orginal voters
also after a certain amount of time (days, turns w/e) they refugies could be considered "original" MIAers or special circumstances (if only one person is a candidate for an office and that person is a refuge

Perhaps that sounds more fair :). So lone as they just have one sponsor of the original team members. The vote majority of the originals is not nessicary.

The original majority idea is probably safest. Either that, or some form of sponsors and/or slow naturalization, especially with large groups of refugees.

I personaly dont beleve we should totaly segregate refugies as second class citizens and denying them a chance to run a public office. The one resident citizen being a sponsor sounds fair to me. But what about the refugie who cant find a sponsor and wants to run for office. Should we deny him to run just because he is from a team that has been eliminated?

The only thing that I would see refugies to see not running is for possition of president. (Much like in the United States government where you have to be a natural born citizen to run for president)

You can sponser him CG :p

Oh what, punish someone for losing? Perish the thought :P

My two cents: No punishment for being on the wrong side of the tide... therefore sponsorship by at least one original and a simple majority (as applicable) OR >2/3 majority (supermajority). Kind of makes sponsorship redundant, but ensures that if the originals wind up as a small minority the emigrants would have to be able wield significant influence. And if they can, then they deserve it.
