Preview: Marshes

Looks pretty good, although isnt the water in marshes more stagnent?

I think you are thinking of swamps,

the marsh near my house is clear water, lots of wildlife, fish, ducks, geese, martins, redwing balckbirds, water lillies, thousands of different plants,

which is confusing why they would want to clean it up in the game.

But, then again they got volcanos wrong in the game as well, they don't cause global warming they cause global cooling.

Yes it is an interesting effect. If there is a large enough volcanic eruption it can cause an ice age. And you are correct I was thinking more of a swamp.

Well I am not an enviromentalist, but I believe that a large enough volcanic eruption releases enough ash into the atmoshere to block out sunlight. Smog however traps in the heat. Maybe you were thinking of this "an erupting volcano can also emit high levels of sulphur dioxide, creating volcanic smog, or vog".
Smog is chemical mixture of gases that forms a brownish-yellow haze
primarily over urban areas. Components of smog include ground-
level ozone, nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile organic compounds
(VOC), sulfur dioxide, acidic aerosols and gases, and particulate
matter. These gases result from a reaction between certain
airborne pollutants and strong sunlight. Smog is most prevalent in
the summer months, when there is the most sunlight and temperatures
are the highest. In large enough quantities, it poses threats to
animal, plant, and human life. The airborne pollutant which makes
up 90% of all smog found in urban areas is ground level ozone. Ozone is the same chemical in the stratosphere and near the
ground. Yet it has very different effects on life depending upon
where it is located. Near the ground it is dangerous, in
sufficient quantities, to the health of plants and animals. In the
stratosphere, it protects animals and plants from dangerous
ultraviolet radiation.

Could you by chance make them look less "flat"? It'd be ice to see them gain a bit more life and realism, though I don't know how easily this is conveyed or not. Mabye some more "water-like" texture on top of the water surface would add to the effect. And I'm kind of turned off by the water color. A color better matching the coastal or sea color would be more accurate, in my opinion. Maybe that's why some have confused them with swamps, becasue the water does indeed look a tadbit dirty and mucky. The trees look really good, by the way!

Just trying to give some constructive criticism. ;)

Thanks, I what to add the mist on some of the tiles first to see how in looks, then I'll work on the colour if it needs it, I'm thinking that the mist may lighten up the colour.

Thanks Ogedei.

I'm still having a problem, the clouds have to be created on a palette with one pink colour on the palette and all other colours white or shades of white.

This file is still almost all shades of pink, I will play with the file and maybe change the palette from a gradient of pink to white to a gradient of blue-green to white, I might get it to work with this one marsh file.

I was hoping I could get an over lay that would work with a few other files as well.
