So, I noticed how silly my Heavy Machinegunner looked and decided to move on to another project. :D

Now, I've begin working on this guy, the Ottoman Infantrymen. He's an small editing on Smoking Mirror's Rifleman so he can look like the Turkish troops who fought in the Crimean War.

Well, I was watching a programme on the Discovery Channel about the Battle of Balaclava and these guys appeared. Unfortunately, the pic above is the only one I could find. On the TV, they had a dark blue coat, greyish trousers and a red hat. Then, I remembered of Mirror's unit and wondered how hard such copy-and-pasting would be. Not hard at all. :)

I'm just pasting the Turkish hat on his head, and pallete-messing him a bit, so that the hat become civ-specific and the coat blue at all times. Here's how it's going... I plan on having all done (except the dead, maybe) by this week!

Haha looks lovely! However, I'd say that you'd keep the hat red, coat blue, but somehow play around with the white straps to have them be civ-specific.

More civcolor? Hm, I'll see if I can do it. For now, only the hat is civcoloured.

And here's the attack. It's a bit different from Mirror's, since this one fires the musket always kneeling, while his would kneel, fire, stand up then kneel again. :D

There is white all over the place, so this goes beyond a simple palette edit into the dark and dangerous land of c'n'p. :cringe:

Straczynski, remember to check how that kneeling attack goes with the fortify flic.

Well, the fortify animation has the guy kneeling anyway. :)

My suggestion would be to rather use the modified (Union) Rifleman, put a Fez on his head and ad the white crossed belts.
Nah... It'd be too hard to me to draw the belts and get them good looking. :D

And here's the fortify:

Why not the Napoleon Musketman either included in C3C or the unit provided here at CFC with the fez.. They both have white crossed belts.

BTW, great unit.. I can't wait until it's complete..

Any change on making a WWI and WWII variation?

On C3C's musketman, I'm pretty sure Firaxis wouldn't allow someone to post such a small change to one of their units. Besides, Smoking Mirror's unit just looks quite like the real Turkish guys.

And which unit here has the fez? I've been looking through every single thread on the completed units forum (lots of spare time, you know) since the last week and haven't found any... :)

And, if you provide me some pics, I'll see if I can do the other ones. :)

Very nice

A very nice unit.
I'd like to use it as a flavor unit for the middle-eastern civs, but it has very little civ-specific colour, so it's nationality is quite hard to spot.
Would it be much work to make the jacket civ-specific (as it is in Smoking Mirror's)?
