It really makes me angry when my fully loaded transport gets shot down by an unknown civilization's unit. So i recently started to escort them - but instead of shooting down that Privateer (I think it was), I followed it back to its harbor, and I knew it belonged to Korea. And nothing happened! I would like this to change a bit.

Once you know which civilization tried to sneak attack you (by following their troops back or otherwise), the Military Advisor should pop up. So in my case, once the Privateer attacked me and went back to it's city to heal, the MA message should read something like:

-----
"Sir, an unknown force tried to sneak attack us but our troops revealed them - it was the Koreans! What should we do?"

(O) Ignore it for now - we will remember this for later when it's our turn
(O) Contact Korea for immediate diplomatic discussions
(O) Declare war on those filthy cowards!
-----

...or something along those lines. Basically I just want an option to handle the situation because I know who attacked me but seems can't do anything against it. Of couse the AI could also reveal us in case we sneak attack ourselves.

you can do that anyway by contacting Korea(the treacherous bastards)
the other option would be a rep hit on the nation that his privateer is exposed...

Yes I could contact them directly, but there would only be the usual options. It could be somewhat more interacting to expose them directly and get his reaction. Will he cowardly say sorry because he actually only has one Privateer and plays big boy and offer luxuries/gold/technology, or stand up to what happened and declare war with his little army?

Also, if you declare war on the evil Koreans because they're using Privateers against you, you will suffer a nasty rep hit.

That's because in theory you shouldn't be able to follow privateers like that.

In the Civ system you can because ships and the ilk have to operate from their country's cities, but in reality, privateers and other pirates operated from neutral base, or were able to disguise themselves back as innocent ships before sailing in harbor.

In essence, following a privateer to expose them, while you can do it in Civ, is NOT something you should be able to do. Exposing a privateer should only happen when you sink them. (Because you can interogate the prisonners), which THEN gives you a reason to declare war.

("Sir! Interogation of the captured pirates reveal they were agents for the Koreans! Shall we declare war on them?")

Otherwise, it should be impossible to find out the nation of origin of a privateer (unless a civ has a privateer UU, like the English in AoD)

I don't think you should always be able to tell when you sink a pirate vessal as to who it belongs to since there is no guarentee that there would be survivors or anyone who could be trusted to give accurate information other than implying that they were working for another nation. A human player can tell which side a pirate ship belongs to but in game playing terms it could just be that the ship changed its flags as it entered the city to pick up supplies so in real life this wouldn't actually indicate who the ship belonged to but in Civ it does (at least to a human player).

Yeah, I know - and that's my point. Privateers shouldn't appear as privateers on the game board until they attack - they should appear as perfectly innocent ships (ie, galleons, etc) with a randomly determined civ's color, which change once in a while. There's just no way to tell what country a privateer was from unless you actually capture them and interrogate them (or unless that country is being very open with its privateering ; as represented by England in the AoD conquest)
