Problem with Carter's Earth map

Ok, here is the problem, a friend of mine and i want to play the Carter Earth map together, but for some reason when we try to, which ever one of us hosts the game the other one can't see the game in the lobby. What we really want to do however is to play the game with a few modifications to the map, niether of use knows how to change the map and save the changes as to make them accessable as a map choice for a game. Pls don't post saying i need to be clearer, this is as clear as i can get, if i do think of any better way of explaining it will edit this post. If there is anyone who can help pls do so. Thanks in advance.

It sounds like this map is more than a map, only mods have to be loaded to see the hosted game, so it sounds like this map is something you are loading as a mod, in which case both players have to load it and reboot into the mod lobby, at which time you should be able to see the hosted game. Normal maps don't require this as they are transfered from the host to the players when he starts the game after all have checked in. The other option is you can try having the other player direct IP into your staging room, but if he gets a file mis-match error then you certainly have some sort of mod loaded.

It is a mod and we both load it up and then go to the multiplayer, but no games show up at all. We also tryed the direct connection but it just says (after 10 mins) connection timed out. But like i said i am trying to mod the Carter mod to change it to what we want. I know how to do that, but i don't know how to save it so as to make it a choice for a senerio (like the original 18 civ earth map in civ4). I have posted this same thing in Carter's thread but he hasn't responded and i don't know how to contact him. So if anyone could tell me how to do that, he might be able to fix my problem.
