Problem with skiping Opening Cinmatic?

Anyone having trouble? It seems to have a mind of its own everytime i open Civ5. I press esc anywhere from 20-200 times before it skips.
Am I doing something wrong?

Nope. It doesn't respond very well to attempts to skip.

The game is loading in the background. If you turn off the videos the game just shows black for the amount of time the video would have been playing. Anyway, easy enough google if that's preferable to you.

Yeah there's a delay whenever I try to skip the opening. No clue why

It's definitely the load time. You can't skip the intro before the game is done loading.
It takes me forever to skip the load on my slow computer, while the faster one can skip it pretty quickly.
I turned the intro off on my slow computer. I still have to wait just as long (at a black screen) for it to load, but I just got sick of hearing the same lines of dialog every time I launched the game.
