Hi,

I have english version of civ. I installed Civ4 + BTS and I have this problem like on screens.
What might be the reason of this?:confused:

I have the same problems. I have taken civ off and tried a clean reinstallation twice, but the problem still remains. Not sure what to do at this point.

Other errors occur when trying to change civics, not all the buttons are available to initiate the changes. I was running Civ 4, added BTS, downloaded patch 1.3, and the have tried it with and without the bugmod. I run Windows Vista upgrade 64k, 4 MB Ram. Maybe one of the patches created this error, but I have searched out all of the files listed in previous forums (including hidden) to delete. Any suggestions on what to do now?

I'm having this same problem. The screenshots posted above are the same as what is happening to me and the "About This Build" screen lists the following info:

Civ Version: 317
Save Version: 301
Build Version: 3.1.3.1 (104717)
Build Date: Monday May 19, 2009 06:20:10 2008
Build: FINAL RELEASE
Mod Name: None

I've reinstalled a few times now, but the problem will not go away.

Thanks for any help

Hi Ori,
I have the same problem, and I'm working on it.
Can you give me the file CIV4GameText_BTS_FourthRoundTrans lation.xml, the path is
Beyond the Sword\Assets\XML\
or
Beyond the Sword\Assets\XML\Text, thanks.

Hi Ori,

It's Windows XP.

:hmm: are you using an administrator account? is this windows XP latin language (english/german/french etc.) or not (Asian/Cyrillic)?

Sorry - distributing the unmodded game files is not allowed by the license agreement and by extension not by forum rules.

It's an administrator account and I'm using the English version. I've never used a different language for the OS. I noticed on some forums when I was trying to find out more about this that some people suggested it could come from changing languages, but I only speak English and I've only ever used the English version of the OS so I can't see how that could possibly be it.

The bug is also making it difficult to do things like change civics in the game. I can highlight different civics in the F3 menu, but there's no "change" button and the exit button in the menu doesn't work either. I have to switch to a different menu like F9 or F1 and use that exit button instead. The text_key errors I could live with, but changing the civics would help from time to time!

Thanks for trying to help though!

I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but I got one of the faulty BtS discs and so when I install I copy the files from the disc to the desktop and run setup.exe from the folder with the files in it on the desktop. I can't see how that would make a difference though.

it should not make any difference - did you ever try a complete reinstall similar to what I post below? if not do so :)

install the most recent version of DirectX 9c from Microsoft

then do the following for a clean reinstall:

Uninstall and Reinstall Civ4 Warlords BtS :

Try to follow this order when doing stuff:
Use Control panel to uninstall Beyond the Sword, then Warlords, then Civ4
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\beyond the sword" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\application data\my games\beyond the sword" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\local settings\application data\my games\sid meier's civilization 4" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\local settings\application data\my games\warlords" manually
Delete "...\documents and settings\<username>\local settings\application data\my games\beyond the sword" manually
(note: application data is a hidden directory so you need to configure windows explorer to show hidden files, also these directories in application data are sometimes removed by the uninstall routine)
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3FB-D6E01F4112E8}" (Civ4)
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{3E4B349F-10B5-4586-9D99-489A90A8B228}" (Warlords)
Delete "...\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{32E4F0D2-C135-475E-A841-1D59A0D22989}" (BtS)
(note: InstallShield Installation Information is a hidden directory so you need to configure windows explorer to show hidden files).
Install Civ4, immediately patch it to 1.61 (download it fresh from here)
Install Warlords, immediately patch it to 2.08 (download it fresh from here)
Install Beyond the Sword, immediately patch to 3.17 (download it fresh from here).

That worked for some reason. I didn't go through deleting the folders the last time I reinstalled, but there was only a folder in "...\documents and settings\<username>\my documents\my games\beyond the sword" I guess that was it though.

Thanks for the help Ori!
