Problems stemming from usage of Civ IV

Hi. I recently got Civilization IV for Macintosh and installed it, and encountered no problems until my third game. When I quit that game, I noticed a thick black line around things that weren't supposed to have thick black lines, or at least I had never set my preferences as such. Then I noticed when I clicked on something, like iTunes, a computer voice would tell me what I was clicking on. "iTunes, iTunes, iTunes scrollbar" or "Finder Window, Finder Window, Applications, Civ IV." This happens every time I click on anything. I decided that a restart might get rid of the problem and then I noticed that in the apple pulldown menu Restart and Shut Down are listed twice. I restarted but the problems persisted. I screen captured some of the visual problems but I can't provide samples of the audio problem, which is definitely the most annoying. I could live with the thick black line and the double Restart and Shut Down, but I can't listen to music or anything without it being interjected with "iTunes, iTunes, iTunes." I tried to uninstall everything Civ on my computer but the problem remains. My questions are: how do I fix this and if I do fix it will it happen again when I play Civ?

Here are the screen captures:

Thanks for any and all help.

I also posted this in the Mac forum, I don't know if cross posting is allowed but I would appreciate help regardless.
