Problems with Win 7

I have managed to get Civ IV installed but I can't get it to start under windows 7. I get the message "The program can't start because MSVCR71.dll is missing" I've tried setting the compatability mode to Windows XP Service Pack 2, and setting it to start as an administrator.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Several people have had this issue and have solved it by googling for the file and downloading it to their Civ 4 program directory. Searching for the issue on this forum it appears thst this problem is often seen in Vista as this file is not installed as default in all vista installations. I've no experience of Windows 7 but as it's Vista like it could well be the same thing. I hope downloading the file works for you.

That did it! Thanks Furiey. I had googled it but was looking for forums with similar problems, it did not occur to me to look for just the file.
