Alright you guys, help!
My intro works, but the font is all screwed up.
I tried taking out the Lucinda Sans, and yes, I did go through that interesting "smoothing" font thing too.
Then, when I try starting a new game I get: Program has performed an illegal operation and will close!
Lovely black screen follows.
I don't know what to do next.
Makes zero sense to me!

Do you have enough hard drive space for your swap file (aka virtual memory)?

I've been getting this message sometimes after playing for awhile. Weird things have been happening with my hard drive space. I'll have over 400 MB free space when I start to play but there are times when this goes below 1 MB.

I can tell when it gets low because the sound effects 'stick' as does the music. (Kinda like a scratched record used to do...)

So I reboot the 'puter and voila I have my 400MB of space back and start playing again. It's annoying.

I have the exact same problem as you. if I press the details button I get something about a divide problem.

I am having the same problem, I have copied the details of error in just in case someone can dechiper it for me. I also had sound probs until I got more memory

My problem is in module Civilization3.exe

I have the EXACT same problem. My problems is a divide error in module Civilization3.exe. All my fonts are compressed. When I click on new game, tutorial, load game, etc, the illegal operation window comes up.

I'm so pissed, because I just bought civ3 yesterday and I still can't play it yet. I've deleted fonts until there's only 193 left. I have the lucian font. I've disabled load startup group items. I've disconnected my scanner. I've done everything, and it doesn't work.

Did the patch help you?
I don't know if it helps me because I have lent my game to my cousin. So, since we have the same problem, could you please tell me if the patch fixed the problem on your computer so I could know if it would fix it in mine?
