Projects/Unit unlocks

I've read but not found how to unlock projects/units for say Japan? I'm 150turns into World game & I'm trying to unlock GM4s ... I tried getting the Sally's to naval2 and I tried getting the Vals there as well but no unlock. I'm past the 'historical' deployment date of those units I believe as they were in China in early 1940. Any hints? Thanks, I'm loving this Mod so much

I'm afraid the units you're trying to research are not implemented in the game yet.
Apparently the only units available for Japan for now are :
tanks : TYPE97_SHINHORO, TYPE1, TYPE3, TYPE4, TYPE4_CHI_TO, TYPE5,
planes : A6M2, AICHI, KI21,
