so i was playing china the other day, running around with chu nu kos, anyway it got a promotion so i decide i would pick +25% to city attack, afterwords i upgraded to riflemen
(2 attacks and +25% to city attack) Yup a deadly combo that (Each riflemen did 10 dmg per attack vs city, 1 riflemen could take out one town. anyway i started to think. what happens if u get the +1 range upgrade then upgrade to rifles do u get to keep the range upgrade. has anyone check this yet?

Ranged promotions don't transfer when upgraded to melee units like riflemen.

They do transfer, but range promotions like +25% bombardment on open field is useless to melee units.

Anyway, I was wondering about auto heal today. I realize I have had many moments where I pulled a fast auto heal causing my opponent to smash to a full health unit. Also I was able to capture a city or continue a push because of auto heal.

Questions:
So the more promotions your unit has the more exp needed for the next promotion or autoheal?
If so, a unit with no promotions under the 1.5x exp honor policy should get autoheal relatively easy, right?

I don't know the numbers here, but it should take like 2 melee hits for a promotion?

This is is something that annoys me and puts me off building archers.

Besides in real world terms a rifle is actually a ranged weapon. It's just because the game engine classes rifles as mellee that you forfeit the modifiers.

For consistency, crossbowmen etc should be upgraded into another ranged unit like cannon etc.

It's an English thing, they should not have not called them "ranged" as that only implys long distance, which you certainly can call rifles and tanks etc, they should have called them Indirect Fire units, which start with archers and continue with canons and artillery etc.
