Hey I'm new yadda-yadda.

I'm having an issue, I recently installed PTW and the 127f patch, and none of my scenarios work anymore. (These are ones I made, not ones I downloaded).

Can anyone give me a hand, I've attached a picture of the error message.

Oh yeah, i should note that i do NOT get this playing a normal game.

Looks like it might be something the scenario was missing. What scenario was it? You can email the scenario designer.

No, this was my own scenario. All i really did was add some units for my own amusement. It's strange because they all worked before i installed PTW, which is really bugging me

ok, I think I see it now. Did you give your units a civilopedia entry for the game to reference? I'll move this to the C&C forum, since they can answer it better there.

in PTW you have to assign unit to INI folders in the PedieIcons text.

Ah, I see it now, thanx for making things more complex Infogrames!

EDIT- Ok I added in the folders for all the units i put in, hell, all the ons I've downloaded, and I still get that message. I don't understand this.

Have you wrote in any ANIMNAME in the Pediaicons-file
for the units you have added?

For example: If you have added an Challenger2 unit, you
should go to the Pediaicons-file and write under
#Unit animations

#ANIMNAME_PRTO_Challenger2
Challenger2

From the screenshot it looks like he hasn't given his units a civilopedia entry. You must give units a civilopedia entry so that Civ3 can look in the #ANIMNAME entries to find where the animation for the unit is located, which is weird, but is true, because Firaxis decided to make it so (?!!!!).

So I have to makea bunch of blank text files so it has a civopedia entry? Or do I need the .pcx files that go into the civopedia entries? And where does the one i need go?

And why did firaxis do this? and can i defenstrate them for it?

I've got all those Rocoteh, lots of copy-paste made that happen.

You dont have to have civiliopedia entries. You just need to do the AMINAME correct:)

It still refuse to work!

I've had similar issues, but it only came up when I tried to build a unit with a missing entry it would give me that.

I'll show you what I've got in the relevant places...

PediaIcons.txt has this entry...
#ANIMNAME_PRTO_Ronin_Tank
Ronin Tank

The folder in the units folder is called
Ronin Tank and contains Ronin Tank.ini

Anyone see anything wrong with that?

OK, open the Pediaicons-file.
Go to
#Start units
Write:

#ICON_PRTO_Ronin_Tank
art\civilopedia\icons\units\19shermantanklarge.pcx
art\civilopedia\icons\units\19shermantanksmall.pcx

Does it work now?

Rocoteh

We'll see, i've got a ****load of units to do that with you see, so i'll just give them all the same one, that would work right?

It will give some strange results.

I suggest you start a new scenario, add 1 new unit,
set shield-cost to 0, prerequisite none, required resources none.
Load the scenario.

If it works, you can then determine which civilopedia
references you want for the rest of the units you want
to add.

Rocoteh

Well this is not a general use scenario, it's merely for my own amusement so i could care less

Which it doesn't. :crazyeye:

Some of the units came with art, so i'm gonna try putting those in there.

Still, this is far more work than it was in the original.

Sorry to hear that.

If you for example start to add Ronin_Tank in your scenario
do not forget when you edit units, (in the PTW editor) that civpedia name
must be PRTO_Ronin_Tank.(The same name as in the
pediaicons-file).

Yes its more work than in CIVIII.

Oh that's good to know, let's try doing that next!

Still no go, though I got a more specific message. Just add "Laser Infantry" to the message from the beginning, I would imagine it would do this for all my units, just that one came first in my list.

Try reading some of the threads in the tutorial forum. Yes, adding units in PTW is more complicated but even a novice/idiot such as myself was able to new units, civs, and resources with pcx files after reading the posts.
