GameSpot has posted a Q&A with Sid Meier about the recently released Civilization Chronicles collection, which includes all games in the series except Civ4 Warlords in one package. Other topics discussed include the possibility of developing a Civilization game for portables and next-gen consoles, working with parent company 2K Games, episodic content, and digital distribution. Here is a quote:

Besides the presentation and the game content, I'd say the card game that Soren Johnson designed exclusively for this collection is pretty cool. He's a very talented designer and he created a really fun table top card game based on Civ. I also think the Chronicles of Civilization book is a great retrospective on the series as told by some of the folks who helped create the games over the years.

"Might we expect Civilization campaigns to eventually be sold a la carte online?

SM: It's definitely something we've been talking about. We like the idea. Actually, we have lots of ideas we want to act on. Now, it's just a matter of timing and human resources in figuring out how to make it all happen. "

Don't even go there unless they are going to hire some of the great mod makers in this forum :).

I bought myself the Civ Cronicles boxset and I personally am very happy with it, for starters I no longer had a working copy of Civ1 some of the 2s, although I recently did buy the Civ3 complete collection and civ4 I still dont regret the purchace at all, it is a VERY neat box, the card game is great, and the to have the chance to relive the good ol days of my childhood gave me goosbumps. The DVD movie was a nice addition to watch, again something that I also enjoyed. Apart from the obvious nostalgia value, its a nice collection to have bought! I recommend this everyone.
<EDIT> also forgot to mention the technology tree/advancement charts that were included for the older Civs, that is something (for me anyway) that made it all the better purchace, I for one like to have the charts on hand so i can read wile im waiting for my turn :) <END EDIT>

(for the record I am a HUGE sucker for nostalgia)
(also if Sid's eyes ever see these posts thank you for Railroads!)

Yeah Civ1 works fine without dosbox, i think its an updated version for use on newer pcs and operating systems, it installs from a standard installshield from the 1st cd, then u just run the icon, starts off in a smaller window for the main menu and intro, but then when u start playing the game it goes full screen.
Id be more than sure when I say that this has been ported for re-release in this collection.

That in itself is a big thing for me!! Makes the package even more worth it for me :)

ehehhehe I really dont blame you!, ive gotten stuck back into Civ2 ToT like nothing else :) I actually found the OLD OLD Tech tree poster for it too yesterday. Oh how I miss that extended original scenario, Honestly this is really one of the best buys of the year!!

well that and Railroads ;)

The Civ 1 that's included is the same Civ 1 for Windows that was released back in the day. It just miraculously still works. :)

Coincidentally in a fit of nostalgia I installed Civilization for Windows using its old floppy disks yesterday. So I had surmised from the screenshot on Firaxis' site from Civilization Chronicles that it was CivWin and not Civ1 that was included in the collection. Apparently they felt it was the original Civ just as they felt Railroad Tycoon Deluxe was the same as the original Railroad Tycoon when they made the former available for free download from its official site.

I have one question: Is there a Copy Protection Reference Sheet for Civ1 included in .pdf format with Civilization Chronicles as there was for Railroad Tycoon Deluxe in its free download?

Yep, there's a printed reference card in the box with all the copy protection icons.

Great! Thanks for the information.
