Quest list

Sports Stadium (Not sure of name - doesn't display in quest log)

Quest: Build 9 (large map) colliseums.
Reward: Not sure (I failed the quest).

The reward I got was +4 culture in all existing colliseums.

Forgot name of the quest.

Build 8 Musketmen. Reward = All your musketmen get 25% vs Gunpowder promotion.

I had that quest and was told you could get extra rewards if you were using Vassalage when you completed the quest or you had the Taj Mahal built. I was in Vassalage when I completed the quest but I didn't have the Taj Mahal and I was given a choice of rewards.

1.) All existing Musketmen (and ones you build later) get pinch.

2.) Start an Golden Age

3.) I can't remember exactly but it was something like use your Musketmen to collect taxes and the result was something like get an bunch of gold but get 1  in all cities for awhile.

I got two corporate quests one right after the other after founding Ethanol INC. The first one was

"We need to spread our corporation. If the government can help us grow, we'll see some massive profits" it tasked me to spread my corp to 8 new cities (was playing on a standard map)

I completed that easily and it said "Profits are way up thanks to the government's assistance" I got a permanent +20 gold income at the corporate HQ's corporate office, which is nice because I had wall street and every other money building there.

The other quest was to take control of every resource the corporation required. I had the world's supply of sugar, and plenty of corn patches. I was just missing rice. I guess if I wrest a patch of rice from my neighbor, I would have completed the mission. Since this mission was also promising "massive profits" I'm guessing it would have given my corporate office another +20 gold. I won a space race victory before I was able to act on this mission.

I had the same. It was too complicated so I didn't do anything and 1 or 2 turns later I was told I succeeded in this quest and I got crazy money. :crazyeye:

I hope it's not a bug.

Control of the Seas

I think that was the title. I needed to build 5 Triremes before the next age (the one triggered by Astronomy - Renaissance maybe?).

The success choices were a free Combat 1 promotion to all the Triremes (maybe all naval units?) or +2 gold coins (commerce units? they were given as gold coins) for each Harbor.

I went with the +2 coins for each harbor as my main continent (a 4 player game, ah, no 5 players I keep forgetting that I killed Babylon before they made a 2nd city) was rather serpentine in nature with only my capital landlocked out of maybe 10 or so cities.

yes, if you had vassalage running while you built the musketmen you could collect some taxes.

Hi

I forget the name of the quest but I had 1 to be the dirst to build 12 chariots before classical age. The reward was a free combat 1 to all my chariots. It also said there would be an "extra" reward if I had a state religion by the time I built the chariots but it was way early and the two early religion techs were researched before me so I didnt get that part done so no idea what the extra reward would have been.

VERY soon after I got that quest though I got an event that said something like "blacksmiths develope technique for making better horseshoes" (I guess they figured out how to make em with air pumps or little lights in the heels or something :P) and it gave flanking 1 to ALL mounted units. Which meant my chariots were coming out with combat 1 and flanking 1 even without a barracks. The whole time I was thinking Aw man why couldnt I have picked Cyrus and his immortals if this was gonna happen hehe.

Kaytie, are you cute?

Classic Literature

You are tasked by our scholars to build enough Libraries to hold the newly recorded text of our ancient stories and oral traditions.

To completely, you must build 7 Libraries in various cities.

You will get an additional reward option if you control the Great Library.

You fail this quest if another civ completes it first, or if the Renaissance.

I completed the quest while having the Great Library, so here are the rewards.

Rewards:

1: Our Library with the largest repository of classic literature receives a reseach bonus. Library +2 beakers (I got it in my capital, which was producing the most beakers because of the Great Library. So my normal Library received a +2 beaker bonus).

2: Discover and decipher lost knowledge from within some of the literature. Randomly receive an Ancient Era tech not yet discovered (I had all of them already, so this option was grayed out).

3: The Great Library receives scholars to help boost research. +1 free scientist in *city where Great Library is* (basically gets 3 scientists from Great Library instead of 2).

Just completed my first quest. It was the stable quest. Had to build 9 stables.

Was playing as Victoria, built 9 stables in my 9 cities mostly rushed with slavery.

Won the reward and got the choice:

1. Get 9 free horse archers.
2. Get "sentry" promotion for all mounted units.
3. Get +1 :food: for all stables.

What would you have picked?

I went with 3 because it would give an economic boost to all my cities for the longer run plus "sentry" wouldn't benefit Redcoats.

Nice.

The 9 free horse archers would have been nice if you were in a war, otherwise the +1 food is a solid option.

Actually I was in a war. Charlemagne attacked me despite being Christian too. But that's another story.

I went with +1 :food: because it's a long-term effect that I just couldn't resist. Plus, I was doing fine militarily. I hope it pays off.

That's huge reward! I would've picked #3 too. I haven't had that quest yet. If Sentry would've been March, I would've picked it.

Btw, has someone confirmed that some random events only come with certain leaders or are they fully random?

I got one yesterday where I had to build 7 colosseums first and before the modern age, with a bonus if I also built the Statue of Zeus. Now, I've long suspected that these quests were kind of "proactive" hints that nudge you towards a goal that will be a long term benefit.

Well, first of all I was having slight issues with happiness, so in that regard it was obvious what the immediate benefit would be. But, then I also noticed that Statue of Zeus is built at double speed if you have ivory. Well, it so happened that there were three unclaimed elephants to the northeast of my empire, and close enough to grab two without leaving a gap. So, while this is only one example, it supports my suspicion that quests are proactive tips. Anyone else noticed similar "nudges" in the form of quests?

Someone beat me to it, though, unfortunately, so I don't know that prize. But, I the game is generally very interesting and has featured recurring war with Justinian. I kind of want to start again just before I declared war the first time and see how it goes if I play more diplomatically. If I do, I'll try harder to win the quest.

I had the same one in an isolated Spain game, and I took 3 because the land was without fresh water and there was no one to attack.

I am interested in seeing the rewards of the 10 different landmasses quest. I have been offered it twice, but didn't try to pull it off.

Although the greed mission specifically tasks you with capturing the city whose culture contains the resource, all that is required is to get the resource under your cultural borders one way or another.

I have complete this quest by capturing the indicated city and also by using a spy to influence my culture in the city, pushing the resource into my own borders.

VERY useful info - thanks!

All numbers for Standard-size maps

Colosseum - build 7, get either +1 happy per colosseum, +4 culture per colosseum, or a free Golden Age if you control the Statue of Zeus by the end of the quest.

Libraries - 7, +1 beaker (or was it 2?) or another scientist in your Great Library city if you control it by the end

Forge - 7, free copper shows up on map, or better weapons (I forgot for what type, maybe Swords?), or settle a free engineer

I haven't gotten the stables one yet, nor any others.

These are great! Has anyone seen the AI complete tasks or does it not announce it when they do?

These are great! Has anyone seen the AI complete tasks or does it not announce it when they do?

I presume that when it says "do this before anyone else does or before the ________ Era, and you will succeed" that the same quest is available to [an] AI Civ. If you fail, I assume someone else has completed it and received the award. That said, when I failed the colosseum quest, I only got a note telling me that. It said nothing about anyone else getting a reward, but I also hadn't reached the modern era, so someone must have built 7 colosseums. Also, someone beat me to Statue of Zeus by a few turns...I wonder if it was the same civ that built the Cols...
