I am running a 2 Ghz P4, 1 Gig RAM, FX5500 with 256 Meg Vid RAM.
My first game, a standard size Terra Map, went real well. I tried a huge size Terra Map and soon developed lag, especially when scrolling the map. Restarting the game helps. Sometimes I do a cold restart and that helps. Based on the forum, I am going to see if turning down graphics quality in favor of performance using the Video Card software supplied by NVidia, but that will have to wait for after work.
My question has to do with the available in game graphics options. I tried Medium and Low. I could see the difference visually, but I did not notice any change in performance. Does anyone know what these options do and which ones are really helpful? When I got Age of Empires III, I could barely run the game on High graphics, but when I turned off graphics options in game, the results were immediate and made the game a fun experience for me. I am hoping I can get similar results for Civ IV.
Thanks in advance.
