question about mobilization

i just started playing civ III again, and i accidentally changed to war time mobilization.

i tried clicking on the button to change it back, but after many many turns, it still won't let me change back. i even tried a revolution and re-instituting my government.

iirc you have to make peace and then you can end mob.

A second option is to eliminate an opponent.

If you are at peace and institute war-time mobilization, you have to go to war and then make peace/vanquish someone to get rid of it. Which can indeed be rather unfortunate.

Its a shame that with the clicked of a button an entire civilization is on the chopping block of history but . . . better them then me.

Reloading is generally frowned upon. But in this case I think it's OK. Anybody can misclick - it's a shame this one hurts so much.
