If you make a per-turn deal with a rival civ (you give the per-turn), and then renegotiate your Peace agreement, then declaring War, does this give you a black mark?

I wasn't sure if it does since it seems that the two are different diplomatic agreements and the per-turn is not tied in with the Peace treaty.

Logically you should get a black mark but I'm not so sure that you do.

Affirmative! You will get a black mark for life. In fact, AIs would never make a GPT deal with you for as long as they shall live.

I had a military alliance which I let run its course (20 turns) and then I negotiated peace with the target. Since then, every other civ got snitty with me, so I had to leave the planet.

Of course, there are many ways to get around that.:) For example, if civ A has a mutual protection pact with civ B. You could try to make a GPT deal with civ A for techs, then turn around and declare war against their buddy, civ B. Of course, because civ B has a pact with civ A, it will break a deal with you and declare war against you instead.:) Now, you can keep all your golds happily ever after.:)

PS: Most of civ3 game features work just like what could happen in the real world. Just apply what your real world solution to your civ3 game and you will be able to win most game without sweat.;)

That's not reputation, that's attitude. The AI civs will tend to be furious - annoyed - cautious if you have any kind of a lead in the game. Play for a while in last (or near last) place - the AI often have a great attitude.

Reputation refers to AI willingness to enter into "per-turn" deals such as RoP and gpt deals - break one or two of these, and even a "Gracious" ally may respond to your deal overture with "Are you kidding? After what you did to XXXX we cannot enter into such a deal . . ." -- all the while smiling graciously.
