Hi all, recently i've started playing Civ3. My gaming 'carreer' started with the original civilization on diskettes

To speed up the process of getting to know this game, i'd like to reveal the map at the start of the game. I play civ3 conquest V1.22. Is there any way i can reveal the map? (the save-game as multi doesnt work).

Many thanks in advance!

Greetings, Paulusss

Well you could make a biq with debug on, but I doubt you would enjoy it. You will see every unit's movment for all nations. That can get real tedious as the game goes on and more units appear.

You could play some of the scenarios in the completed mods section as they often have the map revealed. The only thing there is that they are modified, so it plays a bit differently.

Play on a pangaea with an expansionist tribe, and build scouts. That way, you reveal the map without cheating.

Thanks a lot for the replies. Guess there's no 'cheat' for it. I'll start using the fricking americans then :goodjob:

Greetings, Paul

Some of the versions of CRP Rings (part of CRP suite) had a reveal map option that you could toggle on or off. I'm not sure if the latest version includes this but if not, old versions are probably still available. Have a look in the Civ 3 utilities forum for CRP suite. It'll run alongside Civ 3 so you will be able to Alt-Tab between it and Civ.

Welcome to CFC!

My version 2.11.0.0 has that ability.

There is no way to do that. The only possible way would be to do as the above posters have said, which is explore the world on a pangaea game, or play a mod, or make a tedious biq.

Anyway, enjoy and welcome to civfanatics!

I'm afraid you are dead wrong about that. My version of CRP Rings allows me to see the entire map (including strategic and lux resources) after saving the game after my first move.

First, welcome to the Forum. Second, the following assumes that you are using a Windows PC, and are not on a Mac. The Mac version does not have an editor.

Open the editor and go to the Scenario Properties Menu. Click on the Reveal Map box under Default Game Rules, then save the .biq file as something like See Map 1. It will save to the Civ-Content folder. Open the file, and you will get the standard start up menu. Complete that to your liking, and then start the game. You will see the entire map, but not the other civilizations.

Great, Thanks a lot!! Almost completed regent with large map yesterday (without revealed maps  )

Such an addictive game

Half the fun is discovering the map. The rest is owning it. If you play Vanilla, the Aztecs have the jaguar warrior, which has the movement of a scout, so you don't have to always be expansionist.
