Question about start bias.

If we disable start bias, I assume this will apply to the AI as well, if this is correct then I have a question.

EXAMPLE
1 - Setting up a game against AI civs that would normally have a desert start bias but with start bias switched off, would this mean less desert hexes covering the map as a whole?

2 - If the answer to the first question was no, then am I more likely to be given the desert start that the AI would have had?

3 - Finally, is the terrain decided by the map generator as a consequence of the civs involved or is it just random and then the civs are placed?

No, Possibly (no one may get the desert start depending on the food/resources in that area) and Random.

The Map Generator runs first with no knowledge of the civs in play and hence knows nothing about required start biases - so the amount of desert will be determined by the amount of land in the desert latitudes and the random number generator

Thanks for the insight, I kind of figured this might be the outcome.

I had a game plan in mind had the outcome been different, it may have involved several reloads which I hate doing. Thanks again for saving me from what would have been a waste of time!

If you want more deserts, set the map params to "arid" and "dry"

Thanks, I was aware of this.

I used deserts purely as an example, my main interest was in determining whether the AI civs chosen have any effect on the terrain as a whole.
