Question bout GoTM updates

I just tried it... The normal game's graphics get really screwed up if you try to play a normal game with the GoTM patches installed....

I am using Vanilla Civ 1.29f.

Although I have not played a GOTM in a few months, the games are designed to not interfere with your normal games. Personally, I never had any trouble after installing the GOTM updates.

So really, you dont get to play the updated versionf of the game in a normal game form?

And, yes, it did screw up... As in some how the new resource pics over written the original one...

If you post your question in the GOTM forum, I'm sure someone there can help you.

The modded GOTM games are only designed to play with the GOTM .sav files. You can play regular games in Civ without any interference from the added game packs.

This sounds like you are playing Civ 1.29f.

If you look in your scenarios folder, there will be a file called something like "Resource Swapping.txt". Read that for instructions on how to fix your resource pics problems.

This is only an issue with CIV -> PTW supports the other icon files much more robustly. :)

@Illusion 13,

My solution as I am also playing Civ 1.29f is to have some subfolders in Text/ and Art/ so that I can swap ressources and set-up files faster.

In Text/, I build up initial_setup to keep standard setup files and gotmxx subfolders where I put the civilopedia.txt - diplomacy.txt - pediacons.txt needed for the game.

In Art/ I have defined also initial_setup and gotmxx subfolder for resources (resources.pcs - resources_shadows.pcx)

After this little work ... it is smooth :D
