Question on aristocracy/confederation

Aristocracies, for example, say they gain +%25 production from trade routes. Do trade routes produce food in this mod. If I have a trade route, does it give me that bonus, and is it stackable? And the same question goes for confederation. What does this mean?

It's an option available in the XML but not used in BTS. The implementation is confusing, I've been meaning to clarify it, both the description and on the city screen. With Aristocracy (+25% production from trade routes), for every 4 commerce you get from an individual trade route, you'll also get 1 production. Same thing with Confederation, but for food.
