question on diplo

Hi all,
been wondering, if I'm in a war, and took an AI capital, but din deliver the killing blow, i.e. i din capture/destroy the last city. Will i still get a diplo hit when the AI does get wiped? does the other AI who killed of the said AI get a diplo hit?

You will not take the additionnal diplo hit for the wipe, only the base warmongering diplo negative factor for total DoW count + total cities taken (itself with slight modifiers for capital/razing instead of annex or puppet)

That's from my experience at least. On the other hand, after taking a capital when there is only one city left, I tend to immediately get a peace treaty so I don't recall seeing a special case where the last city was taken while I was still at war

There is a sightly higher diplomatic penalty for taking a capital as opposed to taking any other city. I didn't see MadDjinn's video as China, but wiping an entire civ or wiping a CS is incredibly more detrimental to diplomacy than taking the capital itself.

Maybe it was wiping the civ taking the capital last? Or maybe it was his 2nd war and the warmongering penalty factor had scaled just high enough between the #captured cities & #DoWs? Also Askia was very likely DoFed with the civ MadDjinn took the capital from resulting in an increased penalty towards Shongai.

All I know is wiping a civ that had just one city can lead to mass denouncing whereas you should be able to take 2-3 capitals and a few other cities without beeing denounced for so long as you avoid fully wiping a civ doing so. Aka major diplo hits comes from complete wipes. The captures/razing/dow counts are just slowly building up to make you a warmonger diplomacy-wise

He didn't wipe them out, he just took their cap and some other cities Things were going to get ugly with Askia regardless of warmongering because of many reasons: close neighbors, them being being the two most powerful players(and therefore rivals), friends with his enemies, etc.

With that said, I guess the fact that he took the capital maybe gave Askia one more reason to denounce him. Who knows It wasn't unexpected when he did so, anyway.

Yeah i gues so.... Point is inca declared war on him so it will not be a big war mongering penalty i thinx so

in my King game, so far i have been able to puppet the Iroquois and German capitals leaving only one city alive, without the other AIs denouncing me, so i believe its a lesser 'evil' as long as i dun completely wipe out a civ

Hiawatha is out of the game, courtesy of Darius and Bismarck only have Liepzig left, so i guess he wun last long either

keep in mind the more wars you start the more people will see you as warmonger.

generally you get
1free war with CS long as you don't kill them (xp farm)
2free wars with nations that doesn't have DoF with other nations.
before the warmongering diplo hit starts to wreck havoc.
