Questions from an old (civ1) player

I've currently got a 20k culture win game going where iron has gloriously been discovered around the capital (20k city) - now is there any way of checking if the seed allows coal in this city without having to play all the way to coal? Yep I know this is cheating but I'd rather not waste any more time on this game due to the arabs beating me to GL :( You can't be greedy in emperor with trying to get colossus and GL, well live and learn!

But that is a WM game...most WM allow IW in Paris and a couple more cities.
Sure, it shows what a monster production you get, but it doesn't prove you can get Iron and Coal for the capital in a random map ;).

Yeah, I've had Iron Works in a capital on a scenario map, too!

It also looks like Paris was founded in 3950, which means the city was not started on its 4000BC starting location....which is what I'm wondering.

Can't you click on "Start New Game" to click on "use last seed" or something like that? (Don't have the game in front of me right now....) Then you can take that seed, enter it into the Civ Editor, and see the whole map???

The only caveat is that just b/c a resource appears in the seed, doesn't mean it'll actually appear in the game. There's another randomizing factor at work.... if the seed appears on the editor, it just means it's POSSIBLE for the resource to appear at a certain location.
