Heraclius
Chieftain
Dear Kobayashi (or anyone familiar with the Star Trek Dominion War Scenario)
I've been playing this highly challenging scenario--I confess, at the Warlord equivalent difficulty level. (Please see my other thread posted in general Civ II discussion)
Here's my situation: I've gotten all the techs and have built all four available buildable Wonders (Baku, Data android, Nanotech, and Gee-Magnees). Because I have no spies, and can't negotiate with other civ's, I'm stuck with this tiresome alliance with the Klingons and Romulans--who have some Wonders I'd love to get my meathooks on! So I've tried waiting for the Cardassians (and Dominion) to conquer the Klingons and Romulans, with the aim of subsequently conqering their territories and eventally conquering everybody for a grand slam. I succeeded in this, but only once, by sheer luck.
Yes, I know, I'm the kind of ally, of the Romulans and Kilingons, where they don't need any enemies!
So my problem is this--the Cardies keep attacking and wasting their ships on me (which my defenses can adequately handle), instead of leaning on the Klingons, then the Romulans. Is there any way of discouraging the Cardies and Shapeshifters from attacking me, and enticing or "tricking" them into concentrating on my "allies" who I'd just as soon conquer?
I've employed the strategy of completely surrounding allied cities with my ships, so they can't send out ships to help their other cities. So now, I've got to get the enemy interested in attacking them, instead of me. I'm aware that this might not be possible, but if it is, I would be most grateful for some advice. And if there's some way other than cheating to end my alliance with the Klingons and Romulans, that for me would serve the same purpose.
