The Oracle is not a small wonder, by the way. :) If you are talking about small wonders, I have no idea what the problem is. If you're talking about the Oracle, Pyramids, or other Great Wonders, what vmxa said above is correct.

Addit: I should also say that in my previous post I added ten turns for the unhappy people instead of twenty. My bad, but you caught it anyways.

If you are building the Pentagon and lose one or more Armies such that you have fewer that three Armies, the build will be changed. I'm not sure what happens if you end up with only four hospitals while building Battlefield Medicine, or such like; or what happens if you are building Iron Works and one of the coal/iron depletes (although I think in this case you'll complete it).

I thought once you started a build you could finish it no matter what, with the exception of a Great Wonder being finished by someone else.

So you could finish the Pentagon, but you wouldn't receive the effects of it until you had the proper number of armies again.

There is a 'Print Screen' button to the right of F12.

Hit that and open up Paint (accessories) or something and paste the image in there.

I have had the Pentagon changed when I lost an Army; this is C3C but I imagine it's not new. I ~think~ it's possible to complete e.g. SoZ and Manhattan if you lose the required resource but I'm not 100% sure.

I'll take your word for it. I haven't had that happen to me yet.

'Course, I tend to have quite the tech lead when I finally get a MGL (Stupid (P)RNG!) that I rarely lose an army. :(

Well, I'm normally very protective of my armies; I lost mine while trying to make a landing in AWD; I had a huge stack protected by three armies so I thought to myself "one of those armies may as well go pillaging; the AI never attacks armies." wrong! If you have AIPatrol=1, they might accidentally bump into any army in their territory, and after a few bumps the army is damaged enough to be a valid target (this is a Knight Army vs. Longbows).

If you are building the Iron Works and lose the iron, it will not matter. The build will finish.

A nice free tool for screen captures and converting to jpeg and such is Irfanview.

Is there a way for me to permanently edit the text in the colony description box/flag?

As you can see the copyright text for Firaxis is incorporated into the colony description...I'd like to take that out. Thanks.

Yeah, reinstall. I think that there was one patch where a lot of the text in the game got screwed up. Are you having trouble with anything else, or is it just the colony label?

In C3C you can adjust the number of turns in the game from the setup screen--there's a "game limits" option IIRC (I think max. 1000 turns compared to normal game 540). It doesn't get rid of the Mandatory Retirement, but it gives you a lot more time. Of course, you can also play beyond 2050 but you can't launch the ship (I imagine this is what you want to do).

Welcome (back?) to CFC. :)

Here is a thumbnail of a portion "labels.txt" folder in the "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Civilization III\Text" pathway.

Re-installing does not change the situation as this text folder is also re-installed and it seems to be related to the association of the the Firaxis copyright statement which appears directly above the line containing the word "colony".

My question anticipated a response which would direct me to either edit this folder's text, in some way, so as to disassociate the two lines or some other action (ie. replace the entire folder via a 'fix').

This TakeTwo v.1.29 was purchased from Wal-Mart...as many peoples' versions were so it seems I shouldn't be the only one whom has come across this occurence...and fixed it. Thanks.

I vaguely remember seeing another post about such messed up labels, but I can't remember the details, sorry.
How about upgrading to C3C? IMO it's a better game.

I believe it's reinstall, copy the labels.txt to another location, patch it, and if needed copy the labels.txt back to the game dir.

Just a few quick questions.

The first one is really dumb considering I have the oppurtunity to check for the answer everytime I play but always forget in the heat of battle.

To deny one of my enemies a resource\luxury, do I have to physically pillage it or the road(s) leading to it, or is just parking a unit on top of it good enough?

How often is the UN vote? Does this change with map size? I just played on a tiny map for the first time and the vote came up every 11 turns. Every other game on larger maps seemed more like every twenty turns or so.
