Sometimes I can get the Thumbnail and sometimes not!?

BTW, this screenshot is the result of pressing the F3 Key. (Only happens once in a Blue Moon!.......Memory problem perhaps?) :)

Err how do you play on Debug

go into the editor and make a game (random map or generate one there) and then go to scenario properties. Click the box next to "Debug mode" and you are set. (well, save that "scenario" and then select civ-content when starting civ 3...select your scenario)

only works for [c3c] afaik

@ Eman:   wow, those are, um...peculiar city names

as far as the f3 bug goes, I have had small problems with it, but the game doesn't crash to the desktop for me...it just freezes up my computer so I have to shut off power

If you know there is a problem with the F3 button why would you continue use it?

I never knew of this problem before, I have always used the icon in the top left corner to go to my advisors.

Some of us prefer the keyboard... Especially myself, since I have one of these:

Bend your mind around that one. :p

I occasionally get that "send an error report to Microsoft" message and then a crash, but it's more frequent on my office computer where I don't even have Civ installed. It's usually when I have many applications running...maybe a conflict between .dll's.

BTW, my home computer is far more powerful than the one at my office. :)

Yes. Without boring everybody with the codes, my city names indicate which continent the city is on relative to the capital, whether any citizens are native to remaining AI civs, whether the city is permanent or will be removed later in the game to optimize score........and after the slash, the name tells me at a glance which tiles have been deforested within the 21-tile city radius! (This deforestation info is available in Civ Assist II [except city center] but I need to see at a glance whether an improvement or unit can be rushed by plant-and-chop!) ;)

Geez, Eman, do you call games like that fun? I'd be ready to jump off a cliff after two turns of such tedious micromanagement! :crazyeye:

Oh Yes, Of Course!..........But, if there was no HOF or GOTM, I wouldn't do it!

And, if there was no HOF or GOTM, I probably wouldn't play Civ 3!!

I don't think that works anymore in conquests.
Wait, why? Is each tile only possible to reforest once? I'm confused.

 Respect...
That's probably one of the reasons I don't play for HOF or GOTM. What does GOTM stand for anyway?

CHOP once.....That is, you can only get the 10-shield bonus once per tile per game.

You can re-forest and chop the same tile as many times as you want to, but there's not much point!.......Exception: Before Railroad becomes available, you might want to Plant-Chop-Plant a tundra (or even a grassland) tile in order to get the 10-shield bonus and then produce 2 shields from the tile. :)

I don't do it on short games.........And most people probably don't do it at all, OR use that fine Utility program CivAssist II to see if the bonus is still available. (Remember, the AI might have already CHOPped the tile......In this case, checking for the chop using CA II might be considered an exploit, but has yet to be banned in HOF, AFAIK.)

Game Of The Month. ;)

To expand... you can plant a forest and chop it as many times as you like. But you'll only get the bonus for the very first chop on that particular tile.

Ditto. I like to micromanage, but not that much, and especially not if I'm winning anyway (ie your circumstance in the game shown). However, I guess if it's for the HOF and GOTM then that's understandable. ;)

how would knowing if a tile has been forest-chopped be an exploit??

Because if the AI had chopped the tile before you were able to see it, you should not be able to know whether or not the tile had already been chopped. Civ assist will tell you whether or not it has been already regardless of whether or not you should realistically be able to know.

Is there no other way to find out...I mean, by clues in-game?

Of course, if you didn't have civ assist and wanted to know, you could always just forest it and cut it anyway...
