Yea, if you want a "no preview available" then you'll need to use random maps: Go to the scenario tap i think it is and uncheck "custom Map" it will randomize it, and delete your map if you made one.

Got "no preview available" now in the Civ-Contents menu on my .biq, but it went back to default small map number of civs. My description that I typed into the scenario properties gui comes thru fine into the Civ-Contents menu, but my increased rivals didn't. Unless I hear otherwise, I'll assume the two are mutually exclusive.

Thanks for the replies.:)

The only thing you need to do for a crowded map is check the 'custom player data' option on the scenario tab, then increase the number of players on the scenario properties page. You don't have to change the rules.

Got it THANKS!!
Guess I should have played around with it more -- quite simple:blush:
Off to meet my nearby neighbors.

I got Conquests recently. But something strange is happening. I can only capture the capital of a civ, the other cities are automatically razed! The Military Advisor tells me: ..., pur magnificent armies are again victorious. We have destroyed ... and liberated ... gold.
WHY? Is this normal?

You have "Elimination" checked when you start up. It's a VC for multiplayer games (supposed to be a short game) but it's pants for SP, as you've seen.

A question raised on the RFRE thread; Does a units defence value have any bearing on their defence against bombardment.
More simply; If i bombard a spearman and a rifleman(both standing on grassland, let's say) am I more likely to injure the spearman?

The "best defender" will be at the top of the stack and will be bombarded first. When this is redlined, units beneath it will start to be damaged.

Sorry. I explained badly. I know that already. let's say they're both on grassland but on seperate tiles. They take a hit each. Is the spearman more prone to injury because his def. value is lower? Or are they equally likely to be injured?

Whats the point of building mines? Sometimes they can get iron out of them but more likely than not I don't think there is any benefit to them. Should I be building mines in every square?!

Mines give you extra shields. General rule is "mine green, irrigate brown", but it work only before you switch to non-despotic goverment. Then you can irrigate some grassland tiles, for faster growth.

No, I don't have elimination on. Sorry, I posted unclear. I mean: any other city than the capital is automatically razed when I capture it. The civ is NOT destroyed, how it would be if I would have elimination on. However, I CAN capture the capital of a civ. My question was why I can't keep non-capital cities.

I would say YES, definitely........the lower the defensive value or the higher the bombardment value, the more likely a hit point will be lost. :)

Look at this chart from Cracker:

Yes, but does the chance to win formula for normal combat works for bombardment?
I'm pretty sure it does. The only exception (this is true in PTW, I'm assuming it's true in C3C) is that city size doesn't increase the unit's defense against bombardment.
