Just so you know, if you have Conquests/Play the World, when you go to your game creation screen, on the screen where you select your civilization, uncheck "Capture the Princess" from the game modes list at the bottom.

Hi,
I don't know if this will be an easy question to ask or answer.
But how does the AI take account of how much it has lost or been defeated in a war? I mean when I am winning and want them to pay alot in the peace treaty (such as a ceding a city)... does the AI care that it lost alot of units? Or is it cities and land? a combination? what is that convinces the AI it has had enough and better make peace? Hopefully, units lost has something to do with it.

I know there are variables involved, included how much the AI has lost. I do not know exactly what they are. But they have to have lost a lot of cities/units, a lot of units, and you have to put a lot of units in there territory before they'll give up a lot of cities. If the war is going good for you, and the AI hasn't lost very much, you *might* get a smaller city out of them. But a major-give-me-all-your-core-cities deal you have to really be cleaning their clock.

And I don't think the AI will ever give you a city that has a connected Luxury Resource within its city radius.

Also, they will not talk to you for a minimum of 5 turns after war is declared.....even if they are about to be "eliminated"!

(Of course when they will talk to you, you're almost 100% sure you can agree a Peace Deal...........Just in case the war turns bad!) ;)

12 defenders, 6 attackers, 2 setlers and 4 workers (extra). Defenders can be up to spears and attackers up to archers, for those with the tech such as Germany.

Are goody hut probablities different in [civ3] than [c3c]? Cause I was playing [civ3] with Restless barbs and I managed to pop 25 gold, a settler, a tech, and a conscript warrior, and in [c3c], I popped 1 tech and 3 angry villages.

The only thing I can say is that, in C3C, if you only have settler and/or worker units, you won't Pop an "angry village". ;)

Only in that you have differnet level of difficulty in C3C than in the other two versions. It is a function of difficulty and your civs traits.

Expansionist civs are treated as if the game was one level lower for the probabilities of outcomes. They also cannot get barbs.

At Sid non expansion civs can only het maps or warrior or barbs (90%). Expansion civs can also get gold at Sid, instead of barbs (all 33%). IOW you take care when popping barb huts.

Yes, you had a 10% change to get a settler. That presume no settler in hand or in the queue, then it is 10%, else 0%.

Strange, it seems a lot of times that I want to build a large project, like a coliseum, or something, it'll get one or two shields away from being done, and smoke will come out of the city. "It's way too crowded".
So I have to waste 30 shields and build a settler. :(
Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

Your city is going into Civil Disorder. This means that there's more unhappy people than happy people in the city. What you need to do is make the people happier. You can do this by spending more on your Luxury Slider, building a happiness improvement, or hiring an entertainer. To get to the Lux slider, hit your F1 - Domestic Advisor screen. There will be two sliders on the upper right side. The bottom one is your lux slider. Try increasing it by 10% (one click).

You could build more happiness buildings, such as Temples, Cathedrals, Colesseums, or Marketplaces. This will help keep the pop happy. Marketplaces only help if you have 3 or more luxuries.

And you can hire an entertainer by clicking on the Center tile when looking at the City View. 'It's Too Crowded Here' is not the problem, but the default reason why people are unhappy. You can live with this. The only time you're gong to have too much pop in the city is if the city is starving, and all the tiles are being worked. You can live with that unhappiness 'problem'.

Posting a save will help us see exactly what the problem is, and we can show you how to improve on it.

Thank you very much. I still find it un-intuitive how to create an entertainer, but I can click around and usually get one.

Also, your people can become very unhappy if you stay at war too long and you're in a government that can suffer from War Wearinesss. (I.e. Democracy.) :)

Tip: When this happens, make Peace quickly.......OR, even better, Wipe 'em Out! ;)

P.s. When you click on the City Center square in the City Map Screen, the required number of Entertainers will usually be shown, automatically.

If you want to choose your own worker to make an entertainer, simply click on a working tile. The pop that's working that tile will be taken off that tile and an entertainer will be made. You can play around with which tile best suits your needs.

Clicking on the center tile has the AI decide what tiles are best worked in that city. Sorta like using the govenor, but for that click only.

Edit: Republic is the other government that suffers from the effect of war weariness.

It should be noted that all governments get war weariness. Only democracy and republic suffer from it.

If you can aquire additional lux, that will also make your towns happier. So look around and see if any unique lux are close and grab them. Sometimes you can trade for one as well.

I said unique because having more than one of given lux will not improve happiness.
