I have not done it, but I think you would. Remember that you cannot build culture and non military item for the most part. That may or may not be an issue.

You only need C3C as it comes with PTW. Gamestop and the like often have a copy, just keep your eyes peeled. You can definetely find one on Ebay.

How is PTW (Play the World) different from civ3? I mean, aren't we able to "play the world" with so many different civilizations to chose from?

I'm asking b/c I don't want to install a mod since I have had some problems with them in the past.

Here's another question I just thought of - why don't dev's sign up mod makers thus expanding our gaming pleasure and their cha-ching wallet? :/

tia!

PTW is the name of the first expansion pack. It comes with some new civs and a number of other changes. It is just the name used to identify that addon.

It requires C3 to install and play.

They do and Firaxis did use them in PTW and C3C as well as CivIV. look at the credits and you can see some of the more well known names.

How do you correct 'red shields' or wasted shield on the city screens.

I know turning some citizens into experts or entertainers takes them away (in a manner of speaking) but what exactly causes them, and how can I ensure their productivity?

The red shields (or red gold too) indicate corruption or waste. It symbolizes lost gold or production, but you can gain some of them back in a couple ways: building courthouses/police stations, connecting the city to your capital, switching to a better government (e.g. go from Despotism to Republic), building the Forbidden Palace (a small wonder (every civilization can build it)), and some others. For more, see this question in the recently redesigned FAQ.

It should be note that Civ3:Conquests includes almost all of the Play The World content. Aside from a couple of unit packs that aren't required for Epic play.

I think they called it Play The World because it was the first Civ3 version that had Multiplayer.

I am in invisible mode, but when I go to a forum, in the member's list, it shows my name with a * . Does that mean other people cant see me?

I can see you. Nice little red bullet under your name.

But then, I'm a mod, and we can see invisible people.

You only see one person with a *, right? That'd be you, seeing yourself. Other's can't see you.

But they can deduce you're online.

What exactly is the "farmer's gambit"? I've seen it mentioned but not really sure what it is.

As far as I know, this simply means you go for all-out expansion without building enough military to defend your towns and settlers "in case". It´s a high gain and high risk strategy, where you either end up with optimal growth or an aggressive neighbour that ruins it all.

In the editor, there is a part of civilizations, and it shows AI Flavors, wat does that mean?

Flavors are a way to get a certain AI or AIs to research certain techs...

Flavors is a predisposition. If you set the flavor for a given civ to lean towards a tech for instance, then it will tend to want to research that tech over other options.

It was intended to let you push a given civ to research in one direction or another. It is similar to what they did with the governments, where some civ are more favorable towards a particular form of gov.

You can't change the end time of 2050AD, even with PTW or C3C. You can make the number of turns larger. What that means is the interval values of some times will change to fewer years, so that it still gets to the 1000 turn by 2050AD.

This is because of the score, I would guess and it probably is hard coded. Anyway you can play on as long as you want after 2050AD. It only effects the recording of your HoF score.

It does not even impact your game score as that is still tracked. It is just not logged in the HoF. This means nothing as you can edit that anyway.
