I usually sign a MA with a civ expecting them to break it before the 20 turn deal. I'm usually pretty pissed when they don't!

Ah well.

Exactly. This is Shaka, how could he not break a treaty? I think he needs the gpt. I needed to stop the Germans from coming through the Zulu and British cities to get at me so it seemed like a good idea at the time. and as I said, Liz bailed in nothing flat.

I loaned my book to a friend so how do I do it? (in vanilla) I can't find any way and the option doesn't come up in the diplomacy screen.

If it's not under 'Deals' in the F4 Advisor screen, start a new deal with him, and on the bottom of the dialog there should be a 'Active Deals' link.

Thank you. I did see that and will try it again tomorrow. i clicked on that and nothing came up this time. so maybe the dotted line is out of date but I didn't clear it.

Again thank you .

I've discovered iron working a long time ago now and I have iron in my cultural borders, yet I can't make swordmen, etc. Similarly, I have discovered horsemanship, yet I can't make horsemen despite horses being in my cultural boundaries. I presume I'm just overlooking something but I'm not sure what...

Make sure that the city trying to build the unit is connected via roads/harbors to the resource. Otherwise, only the cities that are connected via roads/harbors will be able to build the unit.

That was it, I hadn't built roads to the resources. Thanks very much for your help. :)

Darski, I suggest going into prefrences and seting renegotiate deals, then all deals have to be renewed when the standard 20 turns has expired. This way, no old deals can continue unnoticed as it will pop up automatically, then you can decide to extend, renegotiate, or end it.

thank you. I'll try that.
I haven't been back to that game again but I want to see how that all plays out.

Just a quick edit to add that I now qualify to purchase some black armbands... I can't find a store anywhere in this (one horse) town that even has Civ III (complete) or Civ IV.

Toto, I don't believe we are in Kansas anymore

That line is from The wizard of Oz. It means that you have left behind all that makes sense and order in the universe.

We have WM but I bought their last copy of Vanilla a couple of weeks ago. I don't do any purchasing online.

...although I have my son looking for a copy in Toronto and he may be able to get one from Amazon.ca

I must send him another note

yes, I expected that...
which is why I wondered why you would question a reference that implies that Kansas stands for all that is right and ordered in the universe. :smug: :twitch::lol:

right!... uh, ok....
