Well, the AI handles it's workers via the same routines that are used when you automate yours.

I suspected that.

I included the mini map in the left bottom corner because it shows that china has one town in the western part of the continent, while the Chinese main territory is in the east. I believe these strange worker improvements happen when their territory is divided by yours. He just had to build a road there, so that he could be certain that there's a road network between his cities.

That's probably what happened, trying to make sure his city has a road to it.

Yep, thats exactly what he is doing.

I had an AI do that same thing in my last game. There was an unclaimed horsey in the hills just outside my boundaries, and even though there was a road connecting them to it (the Germans, who I'd just wiped out and taken it from, had it connected), the Chinese just insisted on roading several mountains and hills within my borders before they plopped a worker down and made a classic fort/colony on horse hill.

They shouldn't have been surprised when New Berlin expanded borders and absorbed the horse resource a few turns later :mischief:

Thanks for taking the dozen or so worker turns roading the mountain and hills for me, Mao! :goodjob:

Hahaha. rolfl. :lol::lol:

you made me nearly cry. ;)

Hi guys, got another one for you lot. Healing your units. How does it work? Do they regain 1 hp per turn or what? Does it make a difference if the city they're in has a barracks? Do they even need to be in a city to heal? Can armies heal? And that wonder that makes you able to heal in enemy territory, I would guess that you don't have to be in a city to heal, but does that make it slower? Thanks guys, cheers for reading

If the unit does not expend any portion of it's mps (either doesn't move or uses only rails) then it heals 1 hp per turn when outside a city, 2 hp per turn if in a city w/o barracks and regains full strength in one turn if inside a city with rax.

I don't tend to build Battlefield Medicine but I think it is 1hp per turn. not sure about this though.

also, a clever little trick I will often use is to march in with a bunch of units just before the tech becomes available to upgrade them (or in pursuit of the resource needed to update them), and once the resource/tech becomes available, upgrade all the damaged units and (since upgrading units restores their HP to full) end up with a whole bunch of full health, shiny new units for the next turn :D

And if you can get to the city screen IBT, (assuming that they have MP left) you can do it then and have the new upgraded unit a the start of the next turn.

Although some see this as an exploit.

Hi guys, got another one for you. I'm researching superconductor in order to be able to build some more spaceship parts. Now, I've already got 1 "Leader" just chilling because I want to wait until I've researched the tech so that I can build the spaceship part really quickly. My question is, can you only have 1 leader doing nothing (as in, he hasn't hurried production and hasn't been turned into an army)?? My elite modern armors seem to never be producing great leaders!!

Depends on what you mean by 'leader'. If you're playing VC3/PTW, then yeah, you can only have one leader at a time.

If you're playing C3C, then if you have a leader, Scientific or Military, you can not get another Military Great Leader. However, the Scientific Leaders can be won any time you are the first to discover a tech, regardless of how many other leaders you have.

Is there a way to extend your trade network to a colony or computer civ capital on a distant contintent once you have hit the "too many cities" limit (other than disbanding one of your cities and building a new one, or conquering an enemy city). I know roads, and city improvements in a city (of harbor and airport) can extend your trade network. But are there any worker improvements that can extend a trade network, like colony, outpost, airfield, etc? Or some other way?

Quick question. Can you get an SGL by being the first to research a tech even though other civs start with it?
No, sorry. Suggest selecting AI opponents that don't start with the Tech you're researching. ;)

Yes, you can certainly build colonies when you reach the "Too Many Cities" limit (512 total cities), because a Colony is not a city. :)

@jlander: Welcome to CFC. :band: [party]
