You would have to go into the editor, and edit every single unit's movement points. Then save it as a scenario/mod, and load it every time you played the game. Waste of time in my opinion :p

Welcome to CfC btw :)

thanks - so there is no support file a la civ2 in which i can just change the value permanently?

I'm pretty sure there is a way in which you can change it permanently, but it isn't as easy as in civ2, and I can't be arsed finding out/explaining how :p

I keep switching back and forth between Civ 2, Alpha Centauri, and Civ 3, so I'm really confused on this point... Is there any way to order your workers HOW to automate in this game? I want to automate a few of them so they'll only clean up pollution and nothing more -- everytime I automate them as it is, they run around building mines and stuff where I don't want them to.

I'm not sure if these were in the original civ3, but try pressing Shift + P. If that doesn't work, then Shift + D should - assuming there is actually pollution to be cleared.
If you only have Vanilla Civ3 and it doesn't work (which it still might), go out and buy conquests :)

This is the breakdown for PTW and C3C:

Automate worker A
leave existing improvements Shift-A
this city only Shift-I
this city, leave existing imp. Ctrl-Shift-I
clean up pollution only Shift-P
clear forests only Shift-F
clear jungle only Shift-J

(taken from the invaluable Civ3 data sheets by Julian Egelstaff and Ken Brown)

This must've been asked a million times but if i take a screenshot where can i find it back on my pc?
Can someone tell me, step by step (im a pc know-nothing), how to take a screenshot and look it up and finally post it here?

1) On the top right part of your keyboard, there should be a button with 'Print Screen' written on it (to the right of the F12 button). Press that.
2) Open an image editing program, like Microsoft Paint (which comes with Windows)
3) Press Ctrl + V
4) Click 'File', then 'Save as', and specify what name you want the screenshot to have, and where you want it to be saved. On this same screen should also be a list of file types you can save it as, you should choose .JPG or .JPEG

Now you will have the screenshot on your computer in whatever folder you chose to put it in. Probably 'My Pictures' or the Desktop. To attatch the picture to a post here, click post reply and then choose the 'Manage Attatchments' option. Click 'browse', and then select the picture you saved. Click the upload button, and you're done :)

Hope I explained it ok :king:

I like to use utilities such as ScreenPrint32, a program which overrides the PrtScrn function. You can set it up to print the screen to the printer, a file, or both. What I like about this utility is that I can sit there and hit PrtScrn as many times as I need to, and it will save the screenies off. I haven't tested how long between each shot, but it shouldn't be that long.

If ScreenPrint32 isn't for you, there are a bunch of other utilities you can find. I would suggest googling 'Screenshot utilities'.

Yes, if you haven't discovered the tech for it.

But if you've got the tech, and clear a jungle, you won't have oil appear there later as a 'new discovery'.

Btw, I have yet to see a new discovery on marshes, jungles or forests; I'm guessing resources would shift to the 'pure' terrain types by a long time (e.g. depleting jungle coals would re-appear on hills etc). Anyone got such a discovery (oil on forest tundra doesn't count;))?

For rubber it wouldn't matter anyways (never disappears), but it'd be really annoying if you e.g. lack hills/mountains and the only coal source on a (former jungle) grassland depletes.

Is there a way (in Conquests) to view your Hall of Fame for regular games? When I click on the option in the main menu, it just takes me to a HoF for my record with the conquests themselves, not my normal games. Am I missing a simple button/option?

Not really. You would have to destroy it in order to do that, which means losing the city it is in (abandon it, or give it to the AI). You can rebuild the regular palace though :)

How do I end a trade embargo? I've read an old post that says that you simply go to the 'active' area of the diplomacy screen and end it there. But when I go there, I cannot select the embargo description. In other words, the description is there, but hovering the mouse over it doesn't turn it blue, no additional text appears at the bottom of the screen and clicking on it does nothing.

So is it even possible, or am I doing something wrong?

I'm playing PtW, latest version, by the way. :)

You have to wait 20 turns for it to expire (unless you declare war with the civ you have the embargo with). If it has not reached 20 turns, there should be a number in parentheses indicating the number of turns left. Once there is no number there, you can click it and 'renegotiate' it, or stop the trade.

PS: There is an option in "Preferences" (control + P) to "Always Renegotiate Deals". That way, at turn 20, the Embargo deal will show up on the diplomacy screen and you can renegotiate it from there.

Thanks for that, Mr Ale. :)

So was the old post I read (three years old!) simply wrong and there is no way to cancel an embargo before its time is up, or has the game been patched and that feature changed since then?

The only way (that I know of) to cancel one before 20 turns is to declare war on that nation, however, your reputation will go waaay downhill, so try to avoid doing that at all costs.
